Some forums are starting to use a verification system for new members. It's just an ID verification where the person registering would need a valid credit card or a cell phone where a text can be sent. Not everyone has a credit card, especially some of the younger people here but just about everyone has a phone that can receive text messages. All they have to do when they sign up is give their phone number and a code will be sent via text and they would have to enter that number to complete registration. Or they can just enter a valid credit card number (the card is not charged). This should help cut down on the number of trolls that are trying to disrupt the forum. I don't know how expensive that would be to set up for this forum but it's worth looking into.

not everyone is from America so im not sure if that system would work world wide. Also not everyone wants to give that kind of infomation over the web and it would cut down in website traffic which means less website revenue being generated.

A nice idea in theory but i dont think it will work in practise.

Ok, fair enough. Maybe you could just consider it for a restricted forum like OT. Some newer members would like to post there but six months is a very long time to wait. It would be nice if there was an option for us like verification. I got the idea from imdb.com and their forum is international as far as I know so it should work here.
