What is wrong with people talking shit like this?

What determine A level from G level athlete?

    Ok. Let's make experiment.

A level means someone physicality and genes are top tier. So let's make an experiment. Small one.

First picture - A level looking athletes.

I used many pictures of fighters you know well.

    Ok... Now some "BCDEFG" level...

Now tell me. What is the point of talking abcde? When people will forget that fighting is not about how you look.

For me its in this order.

    1. Mentality

You need to be ready for stress of fighting and pain you will feel during the war in ring/cage or you will be down after a slap in a butt. Winner mentality.

    2. Cardio

Without it you will die in 30 seconds of a fight from suffication

    3. Technique

When you have mentality and cardio to utilise your technique its 75% of success. For all of those armbars, flying knees, and even jabs. Cant hit when you dont have enough stamina to keep your arms swinging.

    4. strength

Raw power of dropping someone with punch or with takedown. Useful when you know how, and have enough stamina to use it.

And there is no chance on the planet, any NBA player, NFL would beat guys like Werdum/Velasquez ( in their good shape ) in few even years of training. Those guys live fighting, the fight is in their soul.

Same for Jones, Weidman, Dick Cockhold, Jacare, Demian Maia and few hundred more fighters. Give those people some respect. They are A lvl atheltes.

How you look = how you fight or how you will be fighting? Dumb as hell.

Sorry but I couldnt listen to it anymore.

This is sad people are so delusional.

What if look (read : shape) wasn't the problem? What if look was actually a great way to understand a fighter, but the reason people keep saying Lebron is an A-level athlete and some MMA fighters is because they believe that his look is the best?

I'm sorry, but look is really important, and no, being tall with big biceps isn't the greatest physic ever.

i agree TS its dumb. We should grade athleticism based on how black someone is instead of some made up concept

look - great way to understand fighter? It's like saying looking on kangaroo will help you understand him.

For me great way to understand fighter is the way he fight. Nothing less, nothing more.

And does Michael Jordan was most athletic NBA player ? Of course not. He was the best? Yes.

Nothing more? I'm not sure about that. Listen, I'm not here to argue that it's the ultimate way, that'd be stupid, but to pretend that look doesn't mean anything about a fighter? Look itself can give you a lot of hint on someone's strength and weaknesses, it's also an easy way to see if someone can generate power or not (if he's competent, of course), there's things that don't lie to be honest.

Good post. Sadly, you're about to get trolled with nonsensical posts as soon as an actual good thread pops up here.

Everyone knows big muscles don't mean much because it requires too much oxygen, but a physique like GSP, RDA and TJ dillashaw, which I consider "A" list athletes are on another level physically than most and that gives them an advantage.

I think this is a troll thread anyway to be honest, and not that bad of one either. Very sutle
"you will be down after a slap in a butt." lol

Would you say this is the look of an average looking guy with minimal athleticism?

I would say it's hard to tell considering all I really see is his face. You actually need to see something, you know.

He definitely looks like a strong guy. Solid shoulders, good neck, those are clearly attributes of strength.

Okay good answer. He is Stephen Neal who defeated Brock Lesnar in a NCAA Wrestling match and went on to play in the NFL for the Patriots while winning several Superbowl rings.

Now when you talk about looks, do you refer to how big the muscle of a man is or how defined he is muscular wise?
