I'd like to start doing BJJ tournaments again, but I from various old injuries and time off, I put on some weight. Despite the amounts of exercise I get, I have little time to eat truly healthy and holistically due to my absurd work schedule.

After watching a documentary and reading some literature, I think my wife and I will buy a juicer and have a majority of our meals be made of fresh, raw vegetable and fruits. Along with that, I plan on taking a multi-vitamin and probably a protein supplement. Some people allow themselves 2-3 cheat meals a week...

-Has anyone tried a diet like this?
-What juicer would you recommend if you have one?
-What are things I need to watch out for?
-Will vegies/fruits cost me less in my total food bill?

By "documentary," do you mean infomercial? Serious question.

I'm guessing it's the thing with the Australian bloke...

Yeah, no. Don't do that. It's idiotic. Sort your fucking life out so you can feed yourself like an adult. Sensible eating does not take up half the day.

No, there is some new documentary that everyone is watching and then they run out and buy expensive juicers. I know two guys at work who saw it and looking for a quick weight loss fix went and bought juicers. I recommended exercise and such, but what do I know. My guess is it will last a couple weeks then take up cabinet space.

Okay...

All food is made out of one of three macro-nutrients: fat, protein and carbohydrates.

Fat and protein are essential (they contain essential fatty and amino acids). Carbohydrates are the non-essential macro.

This silly "diet" your contemplating will have you getting 99% of your calories from carbohydrates, but trace fats and protein through supplementation and cheat meals... this is a no-brainer bad idea, and pretty much the opposite of what you need to do.

If you want to lose bodyfat severely restrict (or even eliminate: there are good threads on this) carbs from your diet, and consume most of your calories from protein and fat.

so this is a no-go then, huh?

Can I do something like this, throw in some meats? (not into the drink)?

What's the "like this"? You mean something really simple?

Check into the V-Diet

It's a shake-based month long diet (with "cheat" meals I think) that comes in a package. I know people who have done it for weight loss with good results. But you have to stick to it 100%.
