What are some things that have happened that completely caught you by surprise or challenged your personal knowledge of MMA?

- Never thought GSP would nearly be TKOd by Condit

- If someone told me a year or so ago that Chael Sonnen would be facing Jon Jones for the LHW title, with having no recent LHW fights, and coaching TUF opposite of Jones.. I would've laughed in their face :icon_lol:

- Fedor getting KO'd by Hendo, never thought that would happen in a million years

- Nog being submitted AND TKO'd by Frank fucking Mir

- Rampage on a three fight losing streak (the competition he's been facing hasn't been easy but damn is it depressing)

- Wanderlei getting KO'd in under a minute by Chris Leben

2: Why? The UFC is a business and Sonnen sells PPVs. Alot of ppl will pay to see either him or jones fucked up.
3: Why? Hendo could KO a grizzly bear. Fedor is not a grizzly bear.
4: Why? Frank Mir has ever improving stand up and is one of the most devastating HW jiu jitsu practitioners in MMA.
5: Why? Rampage has been absent from MMA for years.
6: Why? Wanderlei's chin has seen years and years of punishment and Leben hits like a truck.

In a nutshell, none of these things are remotely surprising.

1. Fighters improve. GSP hasn't been put in danger since that Serra fight. He was dominating Condit then is nearly TKOd.
2. Because Sonnen shouldn't be fighting the champion in a higher weight class. A weight class that has enough contenders to create a viable title fight.
3. Fedor has never been KO'd, then to be KO'd by a MW/LHW.
4. Nog has one of the chins in MMA and fought fighters better than Mir (Fedor) and wasn't stopped. Mir has his number. No one that that'd be the case.
5. Rampage has never been on a 3 fight skid, especially the fact that he should have beaten Bader.
6. If I told you a couple of years ago that Wand would be KO'd in under a minute by Leben, you'd laugh.

Can't for the life of me remember who was in the fight though. Thought it was Swick but couldn't find anything.
