Things i've learned recently about MILK! (cow and soy milk)

actually here's where i learned this stuff from..

cow milk: 3 sources... a video shown at my college (which i've seen twice over like maybe 2 yrs), a few vegetarian friends, and some internet literature i've read recently..

soy milk: 2 sources.. i first heard about the phyto-estrogen thing from my professor i had in my "human sexuality" class at my college about 3 semesters ago.. (we also watched a video about birth abnormalities and that increased estrogen levels during pregnancy when the mother is with a boy can mess with the boy's development in the womb and vice versa for girls and testosterone) the rest i learned from internet literature i've read recently as well..

COW MILK
1) Who showed the video at school? Did this professor exhibit any strong feelings regarding animal rights?
2) Don't ever listen to anything your vegetarian friends say. I was a vegetarian for four years, and I respect any who do it, but they know nothing, and regurgitate anything they hear that validates their eating choice.
3) Post the internet literature. I can't comment otherwise.

SOY MILK
It looks to me the professor was tipping off pregnant women to the dangers of consuming too much soy milk, not the general population, and certainly not athletes. The problem is some vegetarian mothers won't drink anything but soy milk; it's not healthy deriving all of your protein from vegetarian sources anyway. Besides, you know how much stuff we supplement that is a hazard to pregnant women?

as long as were on the subject....how come no one is stating the fact that cow milk contains 12-13 grams of sugar per serving? im not sure about the properties of lactose though, it may be alright....madmick, anything you can tell me about the lactose content?

cow milk:
the last time i saw this video was so long ago.. i remember it was one of those workshop things that was going on and i had to attend one of them to recieve credit... i remember going "hey i've seen this video b4"... anyway, the video goes into detail on how the basic 4 food groups was created by the dairy industry and that the animals are VERY poorly taken care of (caged all their lives, that's why their meat is so tender=they get no exercise) and injected with anti-biotics to keep them alive long enough to slaughter... i don't recall what the name of the video was, nor who made the film.. but it had pretty powerful/shocking visual proof that probably stuck in the minds of everyone watching it.. the professor really didn't have much to say and just let us form our own opinions over a class discussion afterwards..

soy milk:
good point... but do u think because asians consume a whole lotta soy products (in soups, bean-curds, tofu, appetizers, side-dishes, main dishes, desserts, and soy milk and other soy drinks).. is the reason why asian guys are stereotyped with small wangs?.. lol cuz the logic is there.. they probably consume a few pounds of soy everyday of their lives from birth til they die, since it's basically in almost everything they eat and drink.... personally, i'm asian-american and i can't believe the size of some of the guy's wangs when i happen to watch some porn from asia.. it makes us look bad.. LOL..

moderation is key right? lol

cow milk has casein, a protien that is VERY mucus forming (which is why the doctor tells u not to drink it when u're sick)
the mucus will clog up ur system if u drink it in excess=bad!

You just learned this? Welcome to sherdog.net, stay a while :D

You don't contribute much. Keep the sarcasm in MMA Discussion- that forum blows, anyway.

Well, mucous is actually a good thing. That video probably blew it out of proportion. Everything else you stated is true: the abuse of animals in captivity is appalling. I live in cattle country, so I buy all my meat, chicken, and eggs free range. It's more expensive, but the difference in taste is incredible (especially in the eggs). And I've read about that tender meat thing before, but that's a myth the free-rangers must dispel; the ribeye I get is the most tender meat I've had in my life.

As for Asians and small wangs, well, that's just a genetic thing. It's true, actually, I remember my brother once showed me the largest study ever done on penis size, and, contrary to popular knowledge, white guys average the biggest schlongs, not black guys (they're the longest while flaccid).

It went Caucasian > Black > Mexican > Asian. But the difference in mean size between the whites and asians was like 0.9 inches, so it's hardly a factor. It seemed to have as much to do with height as anything else (the average difference between 6'5" guys and 5'5" guys was about an inch, too, so once again, not much of a factor).

Soy is healthy. Salt is not. If asians eliminated the salt, they'd probably live as long as the Mediterraneans.

C'mon, Kuro, he's a white belt, he doesn't know any better (he's still one of the few with value, since virtually every post of his has come from training discussion).

I thought the same thing when Sudo posted that about casein, but I laid off him.

Mick gets mad, you know this (say this in Chris Tucker's voice from Friday).

actually asians are some of the longest living people in the world. There was one Japanese who lived to be 120 I believe (the record was since then broken by a lady in France). In many regions like say Okinawa, people average an 80 year lifespan.

yeh i heard about okinawan's being one of the healthiest ppl in the world and that they also smoke and drink alcohol.. but i've heard that the ppl in okinawa don't eat rice right? cuz it's hard to grow on hilly terrain.. i heard this on the radio once.. dunno if it's true..

also, salt in countries like vietnam.. is hardly a factor bcuz it's so hot there that they'd sweat it all out anyways.. (unless they're upper class and stay indoors all day) and if they didn't salt up their food, it'd probably expire quickly from the heat and humidity..

Well, we both made a mistake because you can't generalize that. "Asians" is a group comprised of people who live in Asia; beyond that, there aren't a lot of common strains. The Okinawans certainly aren't all asians.

I actually had the Chinese in mind when I wrote that.

I don't actually know which group consumes the most soy and salt, but I'm pretty sure the Mediterraneans live the longest of any people in the world, and it's generally attributed to their diet and lifestyles.
