There's no real substance to Rogans UFC commentary when you rewatch the fights

For someone with his striking abilities, it's shockingly void of any deep analysis. All he does his rapport what we are seeing on the screen. Is he so caught up with the fights himself that refuses to analyze or what's up?

    As always overhyping leg kicks----

leg kick! Leg kick, Leg kick again!, another leg kick! Those leg kicks are devastating"

If someone swept the leg after doing a cartwheel, he'd say that.

i know you were but he's such an icon in MMA you forget how bad he is.. Part of it is because you are so enthralled in the fight as a viewer for the first time. Then you rewatch it and realize anybody could do his job!

You could broadcast a soundboard of Roganisms during the fight and the at home audience wouldn’t know the difference.

I think the best combo would be to have one guy constantly explain the basics. He comes at every fight in every event as if the viewers had never watched MMA. The other guy tries to get at the nuances of the various techniques and styles. He treats the viewers as if they themselves train MMA, every fight, every card.

A third guys job would be to talk about how devastating leg kicks are in every fight, whether leg kicks are being employed or not.

It isn't easy to analyze something as it's happening at the pace of a typical fight.
Going in depth on something that is happening fast is what makes Cruz so unlistenable, he's still breaking down something that happened a while ago but 100 different other things have happened since.

We only speak like this of Rogan because we’ve been watching him for over a decade and we take him for granted.

Even if you were versed in striking when you started watching MMA, Rogan introduced a lot of lay men to BJJ.

Admittedly, I wasn’t versed in any martial arts when I started watching MMA in the early 00’s. Rogan’s commentary really highlighted the importance of leg kicks, body shots, and basic striking fundamentals in general. Not to mention, he explained the basics of BJJ grappling and gn’p. Rogan taught me what the guard is and what a rnc is.

We may be tired of him, but Rogan singlehandedly educated the masses on the basics of MMA. I just tune him out and enjoy the fights these days.

He also thought of ways McGregor could beat Mayweather. He also thought Rousey was a once ever in human history.

    He doesn’t know Jack.

Larry Merchant was a complete dick but a decent commentator, and he didn't even know how to fight. Compared to Rogan he's a hall of famer..
