I enjoy MMA and interacting with other fans in person and over the internet. However, some MMA fans, especially on forums like these, do not seem to realize that there can only be one champion per weight class. Champion means Champion, the best fighter at a weight class at that point in time. There can only be one champ per division, this is how competitive sports work.

Sherdog forums however, treat fighters with a complete lack of respect. Take Machida, top 3 in two weight classes, loses a CHAMPIONSHIP fight. People on this forum act like he is a terrible fighter who couldn't beat up the neighborhood bully. He is just as good a fighter as he was before the fight. The attitude of sherdog fans is embarrassing and pathetic.

Together, we all can change the attitude of this forum. Lets make it a little more respectful. Lets try to be a little classier when talking about the defeated fighter. Lets stop trolling like 12 year old boys with no friends who need attention.

UFC fighters are athletes and even more importantly PEOPLE. Lets start treating them like people instead of inanimate objects people discuss for their own pleasure.

Technically Bantamweight has two different champions right now...

I get what you are saying, TS. I actually tried to write a similar thread about Barao after he lost to Dillashaw and was taking heat from the 'fans' around here. But this is the Internet, and it's bigger than you and I and full of stupid.

good post.

Thankfully there is only one champion per weight class. As much as I love boxing I hate the alphabet soup with all the different champs for WBA, WBC, IBF and so on.

You mean Cruz? You're only as good as your last fight...

...and his was almost three years ago.

Being champion is something that mandates recurrent proof. That's the very concept.

pull your skirt down b. i aint gotta have class on the fucking internet. LMFAO you want us to come together like this is the civil rights movement or somthin.

Sometimes its easy to get russled into not being as respectful as one should, with the immense amount kf nutthuggery, bandwagons, fan rivalries etc...but it doesnt hurt to try and restrain a bit

You lose you're a can, you win you're a GOAT. -Sherdog logic.

I wanna see an Intercontinental title for every weight class.

Someone on here commented yesterday about Oscar being the first boxer to win titles in 6 weight classes. Sure, Oscar was a great fighter, but his 6 classes represent about as much change in weight as 3 MMA classes. GSP could have been LHW champion if he had 4 or 5 opponents to choose from.

Good post and thoughts. I applaud your goal, however it will never happen. Best thing to do is ignore those that do the things you speak of.

I feel like you need a hug.

But those are multiple champions across different regulatory bodies.

Honestly the UFC should go with 2-3 champions per weight division, because that's all the casuals would need to get tricked into getting hyped for events and PPV's so maybe then we could go back to enjoying MMA rather than having to listen to everyone bitch and whine about it all the time.

lol i know man. i don't know what made me think of the uncle creepy thing.

it's just when people talk about being classy it's like they want you to be fake.

i only do that a work lol

attention is what you seek so I shall heed your desire. Why is it that you get such pleasure negatively discussing working people on the internet?
