I started this one last night. Anyone else seen it?

It's kind of a strange show. Jude Law plays an American who rises to the papal office and is tasked with leading the Catholic Church in the modern era. And Diane Keaton plays a nun who acts as his advisor. The show is hard to describe so I'm not even going to try, but I think it's worth giving a look to see if it's for you.

The trailer will give you a good idea of the tone and feel of the show:

I'll probably watch it when it's about done. Didn't grab my interest at all from the promos. I read the entire thing already aired in England or somewhere like that.

After watching the pilot I have mixed feelings about it. Like I said, it's weird. Also, Jude Law is affecting a strange American accent.

I wouldn't say I loved it but I am intrigued enough to at least check out ep 2.

I watched both episodes available for streaming. I did not care for it. I will give it another try when the entire series is out probably but my first impression was not positive.

Out of curiosity, do you have a natural interest in religion or Catholicism?

powered my way through the first 2 episodes -- not a fan. It seems to be establishing a prose that is weird, just for the sake of weirdness.

Only part i liked was his dream about his first address to St Peter's Square

Heard some negative feedback from posters about the show from the TV Show thread. I already have a lot of shows to watch, so I'm skipping this one.

What else are you watching right now?
Right now...

Incorporated
Taboo
Lethal Weapon
Comedies (Modern Family, Fresh Off the Boat, Black-ish, The Goldbergs, B99, New Girl)
Celebrity Apprentice
Agents of SHIELD
Shooter
Shark Tank
The Wall
Vikings
and a bunch more I'm forgetting.

Recently gave up on Emerald City and A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Finished The OA and Trollhunters.

How was the OA? I've heard very mixed things about that one.
I didn't like that much at first but eventually won me over. Not comfortable recommending to anyone. It's a hit-or-miss show.

Dragonlord's Review of The OA (Major Spoilers)

"All in all, The OA is an entertaining sci-fi thriller drama blending uneasy, disquieting moments with intriguing metaphysical elements with splashes of pretentiousness and brilliance, including two of the most powerful and moving scenes I've seen on television recently."

Seems to me like a trendy/cowardly 'let's bash Christianity, since they won't blow us up' show.

When they grow some balls & make a 'The Young Mohammed' show, let me know.

I am Catholic. So yes. It's what caught my eye initially if I am being honest.

What about you, sir?

I consider myself agnostic now, but I was raised Christian and still have an interest in religion and Christianity.

Interesting. I'll eventually have to give it a look if only because I'm a fan of another Brit Marling/Zal Batmanglij team up, Sound of My Voice.

Is that what intrigued you about the show though?

I'm sure it had a lot to do with it. If I had no interest in those topics at all it's hard to imagine the show would have any appeal for me, unless I was just interested in all the intrigue.

That's an interesting observation.

I'm personally not sure how down I am with the angle of a fictional decadent asshole Pope anyway, which seems to be what they're aiming at.

Season 1 is okay. It has already been aired in europe. So the rest of the episodes are out there.

Looked interesting but I'm hearing mixed reviews from people of varying backgrounds. Gonna check it out eventually.
