The year is 2006. Chuck Liddell vs Mirko Cro-Cop @ HW in Pride. Who wins?

I'm feeling nostalgic for the Chuck/Cro-Cop era.



So let's say it's 2006, when both men were in their primes (or close enough) and each had been leaving a trail of unconscious bodies in their wakes. Yes CC fought at HW but physically these 2 aren't much different. Chuck is 6'2 and walked around at probably 220 or so. Cro-cop is 6'2 and fights at 227 lbs.

Chuck goes to Pride for the UFC invasion, but in this alternate reality I'm creating, he fights CC at HW. So basically Chuck just doesn't have to cut weight.


2 human highlight reels. 2 ko machines. 2 of the most beloved legends to ever compete in the sport. These 2 would have fucking RUMBLED and somebody would have for sure lost consciousness that night. But who? Who takes the fight and how?

Toss up.

 

The fans and then Mirko, I think he would have been too technical for Chuck. Of course Liddell knocking Mirko out would have been badass.

 

On the one hand, Chuck was a great counterstriker, so he could have timed and caught CroCop while he was winding up his kicks. On the other, Chuck's striking defense was always an Achilles heel, which CroCop would have exploited.

 

Not even close.

Crocop murders him. Better fighter, bigger fighter, favorable match up. This is a dumb question.

I'd favor Cro Cop too, but you can't tell me Chuck couldn't win.

 

This, I know Fedor had beaten him the year before, but Cro Cop was the best fighter in the world that night.

 

aww, 2006 I was younger, and things were better lol ! I like both fighters, I honestly have to say kinda 50/50, but if I had to pick only one, I would go with Chuck. I think at some point would drop him with a hard shot

 

I honestly don't see CC ko'ing prime Chuck. I mean it's possible. CC's LHK was one of the deadliest weapons we've seen in the sport ever. But Chuck had an insane chin back then, and back then he moved well enough that I don't know if CC could have caught him flush with it. Mirko's chin on the other hand was never known as being that great. And Chuck could ko people with overhand rights, those weird left hook/jab things he hit Randleman with, and he also could ko you with kicks, right or left leg. They were not pretty Crocop-type kicks, but they were effective.


So I say Chuck.

 

That would be an amazing fight, but after the dust settles the LHK would've caused Chuck's chin to break faster shortening his career.

CC would smash him worse than Page did to Chuck.

Also Mirko in his prime had a good chin, before Gonzaga took his soul. He faced better competition in terms of striking in K1 and MMA, knocking the fuck out the lights of Vovchanchyn or Alexander Emelianenko. I don't see what Chuck had to offer.

 

I'd favor CC but chuck hit hard enough to always have a chance.

 

TS must hate Chuck to want him to have suffered another knockout loss.
