My fellow brethrens, cast your wisdom on this matter.
The worst in my book, is this Conor era (WWE antics).
The best is harder to pick.
2004-2007 years propably.
The future?
Freak fights and no respect for the rankings.

2002-2010 Best

NHB was best. Only changed/devolved into point-fighting sport for marketing purposes. W/ enough traction and the tendencies of humanity, it will return to it's savage roots.

All other eras pale in comparison.

The worst era was the LNP/wall and stall era (circa 2010 or so?). If you disagree then you didn't live through it.

WME era is fucked up but at least entertaining fights happen regularly.

Pride & pre-brock era was the purest.

Then we got Brock, Ronda & COnor.
Fighters who became popular by being disrespectful and their fans usually new arrivals that came with the impression that lack of respect = good.

Worst is right now. No clarity on why people get title shots or get passed up for them, Interim belts as a bandaid fix for champs not defending.
The best would probably be Silva, GSP, Penn era when champs took every fight, dominated their divisions and even challenged themselves in different weight classes... funny none of that is GSP and he is one of today's champs who was hand picked to win a title and then vacated it.

@paynebringer looks like your boy was kind of a bitch even when he looked like a boss

I like how OP calls this the Conor era when in fact conor hasn't fought since 2016 and we're living 2018

Pride in 2005 will forever be my favourite MMA period.

As far as the UFC goes, 2007 to 2010 was up there.

Worst one is the money fight era. I am glad that fighters are getting paid more, but the belts don’t mean shit anymore.

I think for watching scraps it was the WEC merger... and if you want to add the Strikeforce merger as well that's even better.

Best fighters and best fights... In my opinion more prime fighters and great fights than was harvested from Pride.

There has only been 2 eras and were barely getting passed the 2nd era, little early for these type of threads. The liddels and ortiz'z were the first wave, the 2nd was the aldos and frankie edgars of the world who are about 35 now and getting passed the peak, and then you have the holloways and ngannu's who are part of the 3rd wave of new stars. There really hasnt been too many era's yet.

There is nothing wwe-like about a fighter talking trash on twitter but not fighting.

UFC fans and fighters who are always bring up pro wrestling, pro wrestling antics, “going to wwe” and all of this shit, have no idea abouy pro wrestling and/or the wwe product

Lets get this straight Jon Jones is my boy, GSP I support and still do. He still gets big respect from me freeing the MW belt from a cherry picking run & duck champ and handing it back to the division for real MW's to carry. True Champ respects the sport, respects the division, respects the belt.

If he wants true "My Boy" status face Woodley win/lose that will earn "My Boy" rights...

This current era is the worse and it's a shame really because the quality of fighting is better, but the money fight era is absolutely ruining things with diva champs, interim belts handed out like pez candy. I think these guys should make mad money for what they do, but popularity and star power shouldn't be in front of who is the best, belts, & ranks.

If you're truly the best you shouldn't have to cherry pick, duck, or hold divisions & belts hostage. My prime era 2001-2007 somewhere around there when guys really loved fighting...
