Media The Weasle's take on Khabib Vs Gleison

Very interesting, so in a fight where one guy's entire goal was to take another man down, and he got zero takedowns, yet he himself got taken down twice, he still wins because he....tried harder? A for effort is a judging criteria in MMA, very interesting.

Perhaps we should value how many pass attempts QBs have or how many shots a basketball player takes rather than simply counting when they actually score. Or time of possession because it shows "field control".

Deal with it :p

gleison was in a defensive shell the whole fight fail to see how he could be called the winner

Yeah it ain't complex and has been covered 800 times.

But haters literally have nothing else, let them hold on to delusions about this fight nearly a decade ago to sooth themselves to sleep through all the tears.

It all matters to the sum of zero- nada - zilch because if they both agreed to fight 8 weeks from now, khabib would be - 1250 favorite.
Tibau would have a 1 % chance of winning

You should familiarise yourself with the scoring criteria - it would clear that bitterness and confusion you are feeling right up.

OR you could simply judge it based on the real life MMA scoring criteria? Don't get why you're pissed off that octagon control is a thing. Apply the sarcasm to the commission I guess, since they're ones you should be mad at if you don't like the criteria.

people still making tibau threads. which fighter is scrutinized this much for a fight 8+ years ago

so a fight is scored based on accomplished goals now?
and Tibau won because he accomplished his goal of being controlled and pushed more than 7 minutes behind the back lines and defend takedowns? yet receiving more damage than your opponent?
what's next a fighter winning a fight by defending submission attempts and denying his opponent from achieving his goal of getting a sub?

Imagine that you hate a fighter so much because he is undefeated that you have to invent a defeat to try to calm your brain down.

That's a sign why he is the goat. :)

Octagon control is supposed to used extremely rarely, only in situations where effective striking/grappling are 100% equal. Neither had very effective striking, Tibau had more effective grappling by virtue of ACTUALLY SCORING TWO TAKEDOWNS.

You're simply recalling that octagon control is considered a possible factor, but it shouldn't even come into play for this fight since Tibau won the takedown battle.

I agree.

I don't see any case that Tibau won that fight. It baffles me that people keep beating this drum.

The point about the commentating is also accurate. Rogan was terrible in the Iaquinta fight. Talking like Khabib had been nullified and was on the verge of getting knocked out as his stand up was so amateurish. In reality Khabib was running away with strikes landed and bloodying up Al. A complete lopsided shutdown.
