anybody else noticed he talks to them like they are 5 years old and he's reading them a good night story. He's so theatrical , he could be a actor...a very annoying one..

to be fair they get punched in the face for a living and are currently in a fight. They may not be thinking super clearly

"Go get some fans"
"Hit him with your groin"
"I need five minutes of WAR"
"GO GET SOME DONALD CEEROONAYYY"

I'm fine with it

It's to calm them down. The opposite would be Edmonds. I'd take Greg Jackson any day.

Seriously the most demoralized I've seen a fighter look going into a final minute, given the skill level. That or Cigano in the third Cain fight.

So make a thread about it!!!

Fell better now???

Deeeepppp breaathhhhsss...

you're doingggg GREATT....

RELLLLAAAXXXX....

This. Jackson is a genius and pretty amazing strategist. While everyone else yells awkwardly at their fighters for a minute, Jackson tries to get his fighters to first, focus elsewhere, then for the remainder of the minute drop some serious knowledge on them. It's better than yelling a bunch of cliche fighting lines to your fighter.

your av tcickled me placses I've never been tickled before

The only times I've appreciate his cornermanship is when he told Condit before the 3rd round of the Macdonald fight, which he was losing and needed a finish if he was going to win, that "THIS IS ABOUT WAR!!" and just screamed it at Condit over and over again. Then Condit went out with a fire under his ass and finished Rory. It was entirely the right thing to say and worked out perfectly.

The other time is when GSP pulled his groin in the middle of the Alves fight and complained about it and Greg was just like "hit him with your groin Georges". Which was hilarious. And worked because it took it off GSP's mind.

Other than that, yeah I agree. He sounds like he's talking to a 5 year old. I get that he's trying to be a voice of reason in what could be a chaotic atmosphere for the fighter, but it seems like he's lost that "touch" that is what made him such a great coach in the first place, which was truly understanding his fighters. Both the Condit and GSP examples are from years ago, and I haven't heard anything quite as perfect from him since as he's kind of IMO adopted a cookie cutter recipe for everybody. Some fighters do indeed need something more than just a calming soothing voice.

I don't give a damn about his speeches, I just hate how he turns warriors into point fighters.

I like Gregs style of coaching and clearly he is doing something right judging on his results with how many world champions? More then any other MMA coach?

Also most coaches have only one gear when talking to their athletes...shouting. Some athletes react positively to shouting but many don't. They find it distracting and demoralising.

The good coach recognises the ques and stimulus that his athlete responds best to and will always get the most out of them b/c of it.

Having only one gear when coaching and giving instructions is not flexible.

I can watch this commercial everyday. It'd be better if the AV had sound on it.

Bookmarked for future lols.

"WAAAAT"

I'm dead. Just destroyed the university library, all the undergrads were already trying to figure out why there was a brown dude in a hoodie just chillin in the corner - now they know I'm probably mentally disturbed.

How scary is it to be gasping for breath and looking across the Octagon and there's Nate giving you the finger and ready to give you a 1 week punch induced headache.

yeah I always thought he sounded a bit strange (even a little condescending), but I agree with the above it's designed to calm them down.

lost just about all respect for jackson though when he told GSP "I don't want you passing guard this round" (against hardy, going into the 3rd or 4th round IIRC).
