Been a while since I posted here but here we go:
Strickland:
- Moans continuously on twitter about a split decision title "robbery"
- Tweets like a 16 year old girl X, moaning about the current world climate and other shit that really doesn't impact him. (I agree with this takes but seriously put the phone down sometimes)
- Beat the fuck out of a streamer in sparring, but cries when Orlando Sanchez goes rough on him during a grappling session.
- Trash talks all his opponents including bringing up personal shit but when one gives it back to him, cries about it on a podcast.
- Claims to represent conservative american values but at 33, isn't married and isn't focusing on raising a family, the backbone of any society.
- Earned his title shot through a fluke, beating an unranked Dagestani and profiting off of Israel trying to rush DDP to a title shot while injured, thus slipping in.
- Claims to go to war and fight to the death in his fights, but focuses on a jab heavy, teep heavy defensive strategy.
- Beat the number 7 ranked fighter in the world who was coming of a loss via a boring decision and is content to sit on his number 1 ranking and wait for a title shot.
Whittaker:
- Was arguably robbed vs Adesanya at UFC 271, but focused on getting his title shot through fighting contenders like a man.
- Uses his podcast to focus on his passion for gaming and career in MMA, rather than moaning about politics and all that crap.
- At 33, he's married and has raised 5 children in a nuclear family strucutre so represents true conservative family values far better than Strickland.
- Exciting relentless fighting stile and Actually goes to war in a number of his fights, like the fight against Costa where he was rocked but fought hard to win the decision like a true legend.
- Fought an unranked Dagestan on a weeks notice and KO'd him stiff in 1 Round (it took Strickland 2 rounds to do so on a full training camp).
- Has never been content with sitting on his ranking, went on a 3 fight win streak post losing his title to get a 2nd title shot vs Adesanya, then fought another two contender matches to get his title shot back, winning 1 vs Vettori via domination, and losing to the current Champ by devastating KO. Post losing this match, lesser men would have crumbled, but this legend has bounced back with two wins and is now openly calling out and fighting the "Bogeyman" of the division (and if he pulls out again, will probably take another fight short notice against anyone).
FYI Strickland fans, before you moan, yes Strickland beat Izzy and DDP and Whittaker didn't.
This isn't a post about who's the better fighter. This is just pointing out the obvious. Strickland talks a big game but actually on paper doesn't delivery. Whittaker does (and imo, is the uncrowned BMF of the higher weight divisions).
What are your thoughts Sherlads?
