People are the most valuable resource in the world, and specifically the type of people that will travel thousands of miles to reach a better life. Why would we turn this sort of windfall away?

Yes. They'd be allowed into this country by law, and I think most people would allow refugees in. And we know that there aren't refugees in the caravan because if they were refugees and they fled persecution in their home country, then by entering into a new country, they would no longer be in danger of persecution.

However, most people do not want economic migrants to come in under the guise of seeking refugee status.

Mexico is obliged to take in refugees since they signed the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol in 2000. In addition, Mexico is party to the 1984 Cartagena Declaration on Refugees.

So if they are refugees, and they fled their country because of persecution Mexico should take them.

If Mexico doesn’t take them, then they probably aren’t refugees. And when they get to the United States, a judge will ask them “You were fleeing Honduras because you are persecuted under at least one of the five criteria. Why did the persecution persist when you left that country?” Then the Honduran won’t have an answer because he is an economic migrant, not a true refugee and he won’t be given refugee status. That’s what would happen.

They are not going to be let in. This caravan is organized by the GOP. They are using this as a boost to the mid terms.
Nobody wants the caravan in the US.
YOu notice they look fed, and not run down after walking so many miles. You can thank the GOP for that.
