i saw this on t.v. on night and i firmly belive this is the ultimate way to defeat better gapplers or negate grappling. see for yourself....

I do this all the time and don't even realize it.

ive never seen baki but that sounds hilarious. im gonna try that next time in class at worst i pass out then im undefeatable....
 
From this I have learned 2 things that are wrong with my Grappling Training:
1.) We have never learned the diaphragm crushing palm strike
2.) Grappling doesn't work against sleeping opponents, sleeping opponents are more defenseless than awake opponents, therefore grappling is useless against awake and asleep opponents....DOOM!!!

its called shootfighter tekken. its funny the main bad guy is based on antonio inoki and thers tons of pro wrestling style grappling. i watched it one night and couldnt stop laughing the quotes in my sig came from this show

actually even better was when Baki was fighting Gaia and he starts to slap himself so he doesn't
fall asleep from the RNC

oh shit, that's the one I was thinking of! yeah, that was teh best by far.


I got the breath holding thing confused with another story about one of my old students and a military combatives instructor that had just got back from Iraq. Apparently he thought holding his breath was a functional defense to the RNC and got choked out by the guys girlfriend while trying to demonstrate.

yeah I couldn't remember an episode where that happened,
I don't think holding your breath would work,
and physio-anatomically speaking, hitting yourself to stay awake wouldn't help either.

I think you need to slow down your heart, and who can actually do that during a choke?

In practice, it's quite easy, because you know they mean you no harm, elsewhere, I think combat situation adrenaline type stuff would make it damn near impossible.

now that you guys introduced me to this,
I started watching this, thanks a lot!
 
nah just saying cuz you switched over as soon as i was watching that.... i never watched the whole episodes post if its ne good
