The UFC's ruleset is as anti-BJJ as it gets!

The five minute rounds, making fights start on their feet on the beginning of each round and not where it ended in the previous, the judges scoring a lose for the one being on the bottom, not to mention the fence who makes it impossible to move your hips when you are stuck against it are all parameters that make bjj very uneffective in today's ruleset.
I think we need the first round to be 10 minutes and the fight to be started in the same position where it ended in the previous, and scoring who favors more the guy on the bottom if he's actually working.
Sadly, it won't happen for business reasons since casuals want to see standing fights but it would be way more realistic and entertaining for those who understand the beauty of bjj.

Didn't read post that's the dumbest things I've ever read on here

There are plenty of grappling / BJJ promotions out there you can follow. Leave us alone.

Time to make it anti-wrestling too and then we got something special in our hands

Cool. Let's have a look at your username.

Oh, you're not trolling?

None of what you're saying is true. Pure BJJ is not the same as MMA BJJ or even combat BJJ, being on your back behind a guard is not a good thing. You don't WANT to be in guard in a real fight, only pure BJJ guys who don't know real fighting actually fight to be in guard, it is an inferior position and you don't want to be there.
IF you can pull off a submission from guard, then who cares about the score? You just finished the fight and won via submission anyway, so there is no problem.

I'm pretty sure the rules of boxing would be about as anti-bjj as it gets.

Cool, some couch potatoes on Sherdog acting arrogantly with someone who just wants to have a debate.
By the way, Zahabi is also a big proponent of the ten minute round and the "make the round start where the previous ended" thing, he also said he gets that, for business reasons, it can't be like that, but he definitely thinks we would see way more submissions and bjj guys making it in the ufc.
But maybe some of you arrogant Sherdog jerks also think he is a casual who doesn't know shit about fighting...

Regardless of what one thinks of your proposals, it's never gonna happen.

It's not only about what the casuals want anymore. These days there are very few fighters that are comfortable fighting off their back, or even BJJ specialists in general, which would be the only ones to benefit from these new rules. All the others who have spent time developing skills relevant to the current ruleset wouldn't be pleased.

Fair point.
I know it won't happen, but I think it's a pity, and I'm not even hating on striking or wrestling, I just think Something is missing in modern MMA.

I'm not trying to crap on you like other people on this forum. But you have to understand bjj guys making the adjustments to be effective against a resisting opponent in open space is good for the art overall. Consider the kron vs cub fight. Kron has to get better at leglocks and overhook throws if he ever has any hope of getting a guy like cub down. But that's okay because it will make kron a better fighter with more effective bjj

Lame ass American rules have always been built to favor American wrestling.

I agree the round should start on the ground in the position it was in at the end of the last round.

The old vale tudo fights had no stand-ups and no rounds, perfect for grapplers. That being said, it led to a lot of atrocious fights with dudes stuck in guard for 15 minutes. It was either an early and brutal finish, or a terrible fight stuck on the ground.

What???

Bro its mix martial arts...

As in it takes more then one martial art to be truely great...bjj guys just need to transition better into MMA..otherwise stay in your lane..

There always combat jiujitsu or sambo leagues
