Seriously, if every fight was a semi-technical skill-displaying but still scrappy "dogfight", how would one be able to differentiate a good fight from a bad fight. I mean if Jones-Gustafson or Henderson-Shogun become the benchmark for an average fight that viewers expect anyway, then really FOTN candidates will have to be exceptional - like a fight between over-aggressive hard-chinned rubber-neck multiple black belts throwing an endless barrage of flashy finishing moves until a controversial decision and humans lose sight of makes an effective combat strategy...I'm not sure where I'm going with this train of thought...Wasteland.

FOTN - Back and forth turn for both fighters. Bigg Rigg vs Condit for example, 1st two rounds was won by Bigg Rigg and the 3rd was taken by Condit (all rounds got some good exchanges). That fight shows how an MMA fight can be entertaining.

They thought yellowcards would create your idealistic vision. PRIDE rules would make more entertaining fights though.

Well that's kinda how pro-wrestling started.

It started off with them rigging the occasional match to ensure the audience always had something decent to watch.

After a while somebody decided the faked matches were better, so they started doing them all that way and it split away from it's sporting roots and becames just an entertainment show.

I think the UFC should use yellow cards for infractions. For example, if a fighter grabs the cage they automatically get a yellow card. If they grab the cage again they get another yellow card. If you get two yellow cards you lose a point.

They can also mix and match infractions. If a fighter grabs the fence and then pokes his opponent in the eye he accumulates 2 yellow cards and loses a point.

2 yellow cards and then a point deduction would eliminate the ridiculous unlimited warning system the UFC has right now.

Infractions need to be penalized whether they were intentional or not. Especially when it comes to eye pokes and fence grabbing. Kicks to the balls can be a little more difficult to penalize because sometimes a fighter moves into the kick.

The best fights can also end in a KO or submission. You don't always need evenly matched fighters. For example GSP v Matt Serra 1.

If they were all good fights you wouldn't have to differentiate between good and bad fights.

Football(soccer) is the most popular game on earth, and it's not that strange if a match is lackluster.
Cuts like Fitch and Okami are jokes.

There are very, very few boring/bad fights in the UFC.

The last truly bad fight was Rory/Ellenberger, and that was purely because Ellenberger was clearly losing and refused to take risks.

You mean how Rory won't take any risk of trying to finish Jake..You can blame both fighters for that fight

The UFC should lobby for knees and kicks to grounded opponents. Forget New York, just go for the knees and kicks. We want crazy shit!

Fighters have one job in the UFC: TRY TO WIN.

Rory did his job. Jake didn't do his.

Hendricks winning had nothing to do with the takedowns. He outlanded condit on the feet for the first two rounds.

You wouldn't be asking that question if you watched the fight.
