The UFC will never be seen as a sports league like NBA, NFL etc. Its far closer to WWE

I don't see what fighters unionizing have to do with the sport not being too great at being a sport. Fans and fighters that want it to be a more legitimate sport should push for it. People satisfied with troll match ups for division belts like bisping vs henderson, can keep supporting that. I do agree it's not a real sports league right now.
Me too. But they really should drop those lame-ass rankings. "Oh we want Hendo in a title fight, let's boost him a few spots in the rankings so it looks more legitimate." It's like the UFC wants the best of both worlds.

Exactly. Its not just the ufc it's all combat sports. They inherently are part spectacle and that's why in the end rankings and titles don't mean anything they're just promotional tools used to sell fights. Its a great competition and I love it dearly but it's not a real sport and it never will be and that's perfectly fine.

I think they have a healthy medium between the absolute corruption of boxing and the No Fun League. At least the rankings hold them somewhat accountable so they can't just cherry pick the rankings of everyone else. And people in the know will always know what's up
But there will be rankings by sites like Sherdog to hold them accountable. Them making their own rankings and changing them as they see fit is laughable.

much better than boxing... legends like Rigo and Chocolito getting screwed is commonplace, their MMA counterparts have it much better

All though rankings are absolute nonsense, titles are of a lot of value. But, yeah, I'm perfect alright with that.
No they don't. Because they can just change them.
They can't change external rankings like Sherdog's as they see fit.

I just made a thread asking if fans really prefer the circus type fights over booking fights by rankings. It appears quite a few do so yeah, I would say TS is correct. The fights aren't worked but UFC is much more like WWE than a real sport.

NBA is probably closer to the WWE. Superstar calls, weird officiating and suspensions/non suspensions, always bringing series to game 7, NBA lottery. . . NBAs still real to me, dammit!

I can think of the two Euro 2016 matches that were better, along with 2 Copa matches, and two NBA playoffs games this year. And that was just this year. Goldie is a parrot.
