The UFC should stop feeding easy opponents to Rousey. It's getting ridiculous

It's wmma. Although wmma may be trendy enough to get a bunch of overweight moms to sign up for martial arts classes they will never attend regularly, it's not popular enough to attract actual talent.

Cain Velasquez has 15 fights, and the upcoming Werdum fight will be his 4th rematch.

He also seemingly ruled a division with large dropoffs in ability - it seem from 1 to 2, and then 2 to everyone else.

Anyway, yeah, there probably are some more rematches in Ronda's future, but what are we to do about it really? We can't make the world have more good female 135ers, just like we can't create a bunch of good male HWs under the age of 33.

Ronda's fighting the best in her division, and she's covering a lot more ground than Cain did. The division kind of sucks, true. But what can you do?

Would it be nice if she fought Cyborg? Sure. But I wouldn't go up in weight if I were in her shoes. She's found a good routine where she not only makes weight for every fight, but is able to go and do shit like movies in between fights.

Yea but the big difference is that there is nowhere to go up for Cain. Who out there that you know of fights over 265 in any of the other orgs that would even make a difference anywhere in the UFC HW division top 10 or even 15 for that matter?

Ronda is the UFC Women's Bantamweight champion, thus is not obligated to move up in weight if she doesn't want to. It's Cyborg that has to come to her. It would be a different case if, let's say UFC had a women's FW division and Cyborg was their champion, but Cyborg has no bargening chips on her side of the table so she either has to make 135 or just stop talking smack about Ronda.

As for the rest of the division, Tate aside, Ronda beats Holly Holm. I love Pena, but Pena's aggressive, close combat style plays right into a Ronda Rousey judo throw + armbar = finish scenario.

Currently Ronda reigns absolute in UFC. Why would she bother to do a catchweight fight with Cyborg. If Cyborg wants that so badly, she needs to make 135. I think the one who are challenging is the one who needs to adapt herself to the champion's conditions.

This thread is less about Rousey fighting undeserving contenders and more about them just not putting the Cyborg fight together, which is fair enough, but that should be your thread title. If Cyborg didn't exist, what would your list of "deserving" contenders consist of? Miesha Tate is easily one of the more competitive opponents for Ronda, and should be preferred to Alexis Davis or Liz Carmouche rematches. They want Holly Holm to have a breakthrough UFC performance where she really looks dominant, before giving her a title shot. They want to give Julianna Pena more fights before she gets near a title shot.

It's gotta be frustrating for the ufc. Here you have cyborg who will be gifted an immediate title shot and massive payday like she's never seen in her career, and she's acting like a total diva and demanding special conditions--as the challenger! It's beyond absurd.

Folks cant you realize Dana doesn't want Ronda to fight Cyborg at any catch weight.
He has a huge cash cow in Ronda bringing in big PPV dollars.
Dana knows Cyborg would KTFO Ronda if they ever fought and that would be the end of the huge cash flow in PPV. There's no one at the 135lb division that pose any threat to Ronda and Dana is thrilled with the fact he can just keep highlighting Ronda and keep bringing in the big PPV dollars.
Who the hell wants to see Misha Tate for a 3rd time get her arm twisted.
Just make the fight at 140 with no belt on the line for the fans.
If Cyborg could make 135 and took the belt, you know there's no way in hell she would or could stay at 135. Dana was willing to do a catch weight with Gina Carano so WTF?

Say she fights Cyborg and wins. Then what? If we take Cyborg out of the picture, you'd see that they're not giving her easy fights just so she can win them. There are just no female fighters on her level to give her tough fights. Who else would they give her that could pose a challenge, apart from Cyborg?

I think these types of threads miss the point. WMMA is inherently flawed and marked by a complete lack of talent/athleticism/anything. Even if the Cyborg fight happened and Rousey won, I'd say it's the ONLY decent win in her entire career.

Yes. Does not matter this fight. Regardless this matchup woman MMA is weak, small and yet marginal sport. Just a marketing thing now. Pretty chicks on magazin covers and in action movies. No real sport output confronting with swimming, gymnastic or athletic (or any olympic sport including judo).
Lets see swimming (current) : What do you think about a 29 old lady who after pregnancy starts swimming. Has she chance to swim world record or beat any world class swimmer? In WMMA she can be top 7-8 fighter of the world. Funny:)

Oh look another Ronda should fight Cyborg at a catchweight thread.

The terms are simple. Ronda is the UFC womans champ at 135. Cyborg needs to make weight and win a fight at that weight, then make weight and fight

Yeah, Rousey should not fight any opponent that needed 3 rounds to finish Hitomi Akano or anyone who finished Baszler with accumulation of strikes after being outgrappled for half of a round.

Oh wow just go pick some quality opponents out of the crops we are growing out in the yard. I sick of the Cyborg crap. Ronda doesn't need to move up or do any catch weight BS to satisfy the thirst for this.

Ronda re fusing in fight cyborg is just bullshit, demetrus johnson fought at 135 for a long tim , ronda fought at 145.

She is waiting to Cyborg gets old and easy

This, so much this. The fight WILL happen the minute Cyborg loses a step.

Funny that people gave GSP and Jon Jones shit for not moving up but Rousey gets a pass.

Ronda and the UFC are content with her current challengers as long as the fans keep buying the PPV's. Cyborg has little to no bargaining power now. Thus leaving the UFC/Ronda on dictating the terms of such a potential fight.

Quality of Ronda opponents is a byproduct of WMMA talent in general. And in some instances an example of MMA talent overall. Majority of the weight divisions in the UFC are in a complete mess of incompetent talent.

OMG what a novel idea!! Why didn't anyone think of this earlier?!!!

Bethe was the first real softball that Ronda was served. Up to that point the competition has had a real chance but they messed up with tactical errors and poor planning. Miesha has soundly put the best effort in, while still trying to take the fight to the ground, a terrible mistake. Miesha has had two shots and seems to be in line for number three. Odds are she will make fewer mistakes this time around, but will still get beaten soundly.

The future competition for Ronda is mostly looking like softballs unless they offer her a series of rematches. Everything downward from Bethe will be oversold by the UFC and too many casuals will eat it up.

Still, thus far Bethe is the only really bad match up.
