Turns out owner of bus had just placed a new insurance policy on bus windows so he ended up making thousands after the windows shattered. Also, a crazy coincidence that windows had asbestos in its composition and would have required bus owner to replace at his own expense, had this accident not happened. Instead of having to pay for removal, he got paid by insurance.
