I knew i was going to hate the replies in this thread....
REAL athletes are playing football to avoid cte....really?....its literally the sport wheres athletes are killing themselves or dying in their 30's and 40's
Second of all to be a fighter you have to have the mentality to do it.....which drops the pool of participants even lower
Third of all USADA would kill these guys.....mike golic said one time that by his estimation 90-95 % of NFL use drugs or performace enhancers
Theres a wellspring of talent in russia and the surrounding east europe....but putin aint giving up his athletes, especially when their viable athletic pool is 1/3 the size of the united states(all the more impressive considering on well they perform in a variety of athletics on the world stage)
Or they dont turn pro at all...
Theres a bunch of great amateur, and olympic heavyweight boxers from east europe who havent turned pro and seem to have no intention to do likewise(some countries national teans are extremely well taken care of wink wink)
Honestly the UFC would probably better off if they scouted pro hockey rejects(enforcers and goons)they're A level athletes, they're cheaper to buy than football or basketball and they alreasy havethat fighting aggression you need in MMA
