The UFC is not behaving like MMA is a legitimate sport.

I mean this in the sense that Ariel is a journalist who's job it is to break news, especially big news. That is every journalists main objective when covering a sport. You don't see the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, PGA, etc banning journalists for breaking big news. Heck a lot of those sports use the media to get the news out.

Plus if the UFC didn't want the news out until they wanted it out then shouldn't they be wondering how the heck the news leaked out rather than who reported it?

This is one of two things, either the UFC is pissed that Ariel is just good at his job and has great sources or it is personal and they don't like him.

The UFC needs to get over themselves. I couldn't care less who breaks news, the UFC is acting like a second rate organization.

Nah, they are

The NFL have been paying off and silencing players, journalists, doctors etc. for all the concussion crap, the movie with Will Smith didn't even go into much depth about it

I Don't follow the other organizations closely enough, but they have all had scandals I'm sure, this is minor tbh

I've heard plenty of journalists report on the concussion issue for the NFL. And there are many players with pending lawsuits against the NFL.

It was all staged

You are correct, sir.

The NFL concussions were a big thing though, and the journals never completely stopped for shit like that or Brady's DeflateGate scandal. The fallout from those two things are massive in comparison to Ariel dropping the Brock announcement a few hours earlier than expected.

Who cares about Helwani anyway.

The NFL still punished Brady arbitrarily without fully investigating to try to look good for the public, and they silenced concussion research for decades and threatened people. UFC just banned a pet rat who didn't know his place

Because it's not a legitimate sport. Whenever prominent sports people talk about the UFC they baby it, use generalities, and go with the "UFC is taking over" narrative. Mainstream sports doesn't bother to dig much into the UFC.

UFC is not a sport, but sports entertainment like WWE, although the fights are not fixed. A top fighter like Ben Askren is not signed because he is not entertaining and other "less entertaining" fighters are cut for lack of entertainment value.

I see your point, but signing fighters that are not entertaining and banning an independent journalist for doing his job is not exactly an apples to apples comparison.

As others have said, the ufc is not main stream.

The ufc is a joke

True, but it is part of the bigger picture. The desire and ability to control information, "banning" less entertaining athletes using all tricks to destroy competing organizations are part of the bigger UFC package.

Why does the UFC have to take some sort of action because YOU have an opinion?

The UFC should have asked Ariel to keep quiet and in exchange give him a couple of scoops next month. Instead they come off like bullies trying to control the media and failing miserably.

The UFC can do what it wants and obviously it does, but they're not doing the sport of MMA any favors and make it lok like it's run by organized criminals, not professionals.

Roger Goodell wished he could get away with the crap Dana White does.
