A few years back Dana was promising the UFC would be in NYC by the years end.. There were fighter campaigns, pro MMA protests and media coverage .. Yet recently Dana and the UFC have been awfully quite on the prospects of MMA being legal in NYC .. So what's happend ? Has the UFC lost interest/ given up on NYC altogether ???

Imo MMA needs to be legal in NYC, for growth of the sport and legitimacy.. And zuffa needs to stand up to the corrupt unions who are halting progress once and for all ..

It doesn't help when you have street thugs assaulting civilians, does it.

    Lol no it's not.....

the unions might say that look like the good guys, but the real reason they are stopping MMA in NY is because they want to unionise the Fretitta's hotels and casinos in Vegas ...

Yep a real slimy, shady move by the culinary union... They'd stop an entire industry creating thousands of new jobs and millions of dollars in revenue for NYC- just so they can make more money for themselves by unionising a few hotels .... Disgusting

I love the misinformation that is posted about why MMA is still illegal in NY and no it has nothing to do with the UFC buying up the competition.

There is two reasons why it is banned in NY. The first reason is that the NY Senate votes to legalize MMA every year from then it goes to the NY Assembly which it stalls because assembly speaker Sheldon Silver never brings it to the floor for votes. He doesn't like MMA.

The second reason is that the Station Casinos in Las Vegas are owned by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, both brothers also own the UFC. Well the Station Casinos are one of the few casinos in Vegas that use non union workers, the culinary union in Vegas is not happy about that and have for years been pumping money into keeping MMA banned in NY

Last week the New York stae Senate approved a bill to legaize MMA in New York. Now it needs to pass the assembly but it never will because this guy is firmly in the union's pocket.

What is so disgusting about it. Its called business. Do you actually believe Lorenzo, Dana, and company haven't stepped on other's growth, future, or income for their own gain?
