The UFC has almost fully transitioned to "sports entertainment" -wins and losses mean nothing!

Aldo and Romero getting title shots riding two-fight losing streaks. Conor is going to get a title shot coming off a 155 loss (Cowboy at 170).

Was anyone on the UFC 246 main card NOT on a losing streak?

Conor coming off a loss, Cerrone got KO'd two fights previous. Holly coming off a loss, Pennington off a close split decision win, 2 losses before that. Oleynik and Greene both coming off losses. Kelleher and Pettis coming off losses.

It's amazing how they're not even going to pretend that rankings and win/loss records matter anymore.

Would it be less “sports entertainment” if they scrapped ranking all together?
    Serious question

should they just matchup fighters based on hot streaks, styles, etc? Maybe they could get just as many exciting fights

Fighting SHOULD be a spectacle! Especially a martial arts fight!

I don't care who's ranked what. If the number 1 guy is a boring blanket wrestler, but he can technically "beat" everybody by decision, who cares? Who wants to watch that? I want to see exciting fights.

Yair Rodriguez is a good example. I don't care what that guy's ranked, I'll always watch him fight regardless.

Basically, just be a smart fan and realize the belts and rankings mean little. Enjoy the fights.

Am I super excited for Tony/Khabib because Khabib has a belt? Hell no. I'm excited because I know ON MY OWN these are the two best. I don't need the UFC rankings to tell me these are the two best LW's. I can see it in their fights, win streaks, etc. I'll make up my own mind about who the best is and not give a shit about their pathetic attempts to justify who they gift title fights to.
