T/F ?

When the UFC was filled with more "fighters first / athletes second" and was less lucrative, is it fair to say injuries were less because they weren't overworking and overtraining to get that absolute edge ?

Guys like Chuck and Tito were the best in their eras, but injuries weren't as prevalent because I don't feel these guys trained as intensely as today's high level athletes who fight for a procession.

These injuries, extreme weight cuts, and extreme training are a result of the UFC going mainstream and attracting athletes over fighters.

Same reason guys like Chuck and Tito were completely outclassed when the new breed came in.

Part of the growing pains.

People will eventually learn how hard they can/can't train. Being injured costs them money. In the end, it's still a young sport.

I hope you are right. I remember Rory Mac seemed like he missed every other fight he was scheduled for. Now he hasn't pulled out of a fight for a while now. Maybe he's getting smarter with training. Hopefully Weidman, Cain, Pettis , etc will become smarter too.
