Personally, I look a the whole thing more like a job application. You've got to build up your resume. Once your resume is good enough you get your shot.

This isn't a theory. It is actually FACT. John Fitch said he used to see guys from WWE come into the UFC office to the the higher ups how to run the business. The UFC is literally just adapted the pro-wrestling model to real fights.

If anything capitalism always ends up in monopolies. In the US, it just leads to business oligarchies.

The world isnt fair, and you see that across the board in everything. Cant even begin to tell you how many dumbass bosses ive had that got the position by being ultra ass kissers or somehow related to someone in company.

In UFCs case its a popularity contest with a hint of Merit mixed in. It is what it is.

That's not a rational argument. That's like legalizing murder because there are always going to be murderers, so why fight it?
