To be fair, the weigh limit for the tournament was 175lbs and any bout taking place above 170lbs is considered MW, even if ROTR named it WW, just like Pride called WW the 183lbs division

You got the logic wrong, mate.
Any bout above170 and below 185 lbs is considered MW. So 183 is MW, so is 175. It's not about being far or close
