Where does Max go if he loses to Edgar? Does he move up right away to 155, take some time off to put on the muscle for 155 etc.

We have a poll up, asking which top-tier fighter in their prime now could still perform at the elite/championship level after they turn 40?

Yeah we selected fighters that are at the top of their game now and aren't that old, give or take, but there's a lot to pick from. You don't think any of those five suggested would stick around and pass drug tests the whole time? Only one of them has failed a drug test before.

They can surely pass the drug tests but gear allows you to compete longer at better shape.
Jones has looked way slower in the past 9 months or so and he is only 32, should be at his prime now.
Khabib could possibly do it but he is already talking about retiring after few fights or so and his weight cuts are killing him so I don't see him competing after 35.
Even though smaller guys age worse because speed>power at lighter divisions Cejudo at 32 looks to be in phenomenal shape right now and at his prime and no words of retiring, could possibly see him be elite still at 40 but it's still a long shot.
Don't know enough about Usman to really say anything but his knees seem to be really fucked up and that could play a huge factor in his careers longevity.
I don't see Conor having more than 1-3 fights in his career.

In MMA it seems to be really difficult to stay on top for long perioids of time even if you're younger.

Cejudo does seem like a prime prospect to reach 40 and still go, huh. He does have a lot of wrestling miles on him too, I heard he has like a medal made of gold or something. I dunno, I just saw it on the internet one time.

How much does wrestling miles differ from MMA miles?
Also this might be the future of training:

Picked Jones since its easier to fight longer in the heavier weight-classes. Might not be champ. But top 10 should be easy considering the opposition.

    * If its one thing the Contenders has shown conserning the UFC's promotion strategy, its that they've fallen in love with sob-stories. Do you think this is a good strategy to garner interest in a borderline illegal bloodsport? And will we soon be seeing people like Leon Edwards weeping into the camera?

    * Andrei Arlovski just looked the most athletic and technical he has been in almost a decade. WTF? How?

    * In a recent interview, Timur Valiev (of WSOF/PFL fame) alleged that the UFC regularly decline to sign many outstanding Dagestanian fighters. Excluding himself, he also mentioned other top-prospects like Magomed Magomedov (who defeated Peter Yan). What do you think of this region-based exclusion despite their prodigious talent, and can to many Magomeds truly ruin the soup?
