The time I crossed paths with the American Gangster

Every once in a while something cool happens to you that makes you feel the universe is being kind. About a year ago I was working at a Deli/Market/Video lottery store called Stans Food and Deli. It was kinda a scary job. I got robbed three different times. It was a job where I was the only worker amongst shoppers and gamblers. Only help I had was a day worker until 4 and my manager until 6. Then I was on my own for six hours. Tips were good though and so were the hours

So about a year ago Chael Sonnen and his coach Joel walk in. Chael explains to me they are looking for pizza pockets in Portland. They are hard to find. This is a few months prior to his fight with Machida... I am sweating and fanboying. He orders a few sandwiches, some hot pockets, a few drinks and a powerball ticket. I go grab my manager and have him take over the next customers.

So I make them their food and bring it to his table and I tell him I'm a big fan of him and his videos. Shake his hand.

A few days later his coach comes in and reminds me who he is. He asks if I can cook some more hot pockets and Chael will pay me back tomorrow for them. I tell him I've been following Chael since Filho 2.

Next day my nimrod short-lived coworker answers the phone and says somebody is on the phone and wants to speak to "Spider". So I take the phone and speak to Chael! He says they are on the way and asks me to get some hot pockets and sandwiches ready.

They both return and he walks in, "what's up Spider!" We talk briefly about the upcoming Pettis vs Wonderboy fight and Espn+. Super cool guy him and his coach Joel, couldn't be nicer. Over both transactions he tipped me a little over $100.

Haven't seen him since but I would be happy to! I miss his career. Not sure if he would be cool with me sharing this, I think it's okay though. No autographs or selfies, but I did get a photo of the surveillance
