The overarching take-home message is that access to training will ultimately decide who dominates the biggest paydays in mixed martial arts future
In countries like the former Soviet Bloc Asia and most of Europe athletes have access to high-quality low-cost training thru community centers and public schools
In contrast...in the United States the last publicly-funded combat sport is dwindling quickly and it is being replaced by strip mall and concierge gyms that require a hefty price for participation
As most of the middle and lower class is unable to afford high quality martial arts training America will fall further and further behind in the big MMA paydays as the juggernauts of Brazil the Soviet Bloc and Asia slowly take over the sport
The former Soviet Bloc countries will dominate American MMA especially because their weight classes overlap better as compared to the Asian weight classes which tend to run much smaller
It's a simple story of America losing its public parks and access to the public training facilities that we used to enjoy back in the good old days
Instead of having access to the local public gymnasium where we could train in whatever martial art we chose fit we now have to pay a hefty monthly fee to a corporate dominated facility that is extremely concerned about liability and thus will not allow you to participate in free practice of martial arts because legal concerns will (and always have) dominated the American martial arts world
In most of the world 2 citizens can go to a public place and engage in mixed martial arts without any trouble
You try that in "anytown USA" and the police will show up and kick you off that property on "akounta lybilaty" and your only opportunity to train in mixed martial arts will come at a hefty monthly fee at the few and far between for profit martial arts businesses that choose to market "MMA" but actually only have a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and cardio kickboxing hour respectively...

too many soft wrestler types within the american mma community who excel at at wrestling but cant punch for shit aka ben askren.
brazilians get wiped out whenever they go and fight on these russian cards. no one talks about it even when a whole card could have every brazilian fighter ktfo.

Soviet bloc athletes grow up with freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling boxing, karate, judo and Sambo
it's a much more well-rounded approach to martial arts training
only the Asians surpass them in quality of training but weight classes will keep them out of most of the american tournaments
