If Bohemian Rhapsody isn't the single most overrated song of all time then it's definitely near the top of said list

I couldn't really give less of a fuck about this conversation. If you don't think Queen and that song is gay as fuck then great. I've already moved on with my life

Concession accepted.

It's not even fair, Bohemian Rhapsody is a one off in several ways, I think I heard there were like 40 chord changes or something, probably more and it was way longer than 3 minutes and the production was off the chain. I saw a docu where they said that Bohemian Rhapsody won some English poll for greatest British rock song and Brian Mayes graciously said, "no one beats the Beatles" but I could see why that song would be placed where it is. Just a very unusually complicated, catchy, experimental and creative song.

Ok...

Explain to me what's so "gay" about Bohemian Rhapsody?

Because I think it's about a man who killed someone and while on his way to the gallows, he's confessing to his mother.

What do you get out of it?
i always interpreted that as a suicide song. I think Brian Mayes said that Freddie wrote obtusely because he wanted varied interpretations.

Rhapsody is the better pop song but it's played out. Probably will never listen to it again.

Why is Paint it Black in so many threads?

It's a very good song but it's weird that it keeps getting thrown in contests with better songs.

Come on man. Bohemian is pretty much an anthem now. The song structure, vocals and instrumentation are epic. Not many songs can get close as far as complexity/replayability. Its one of the goat
songs imo

Paint It Black is a great song as well, but theres levels my friend. Only Stones song that could possibly get close is Gimme Shelter.

NOBODY is turning on BR just to jam out. It is a fun song when it comes on when you're with a group, and you all sing horribly along to it.

Paint It Black by far.

BR is basically an anthem that most musicians learn at some point, or at least they did. It's an amazing song to learn and perform.

BR is so iconic that it became the most streamed song from the 20th century:

Alone or with a group, people absolutely turn it on to "jam out." There are famous movies built upon people jamming out to it.

Paint it Black is a great song but this isn't happening for it.

Maybe in the long long ago, but I have never seen it happen in all my years. Never walked into anyone listening to it by themselves. Never even attempted to learn the song, or knew someone who could. Maybe that is because we all were learning metal, but still.

And the WW clip shows them listening in a group setting.... Same with the concerts... It is definitely a fun song, but more novelty to me. Music is crazy though, and makes life enjoyable, so to each their own.

I mean, the fact that it's the most streamed song from the 20th century is a strong hint that a different perspective probably exists for most people lol. Most people I know learned at least part of the song. I'd guess it's that you were mostly focused on metal.

The WW clip shows them purposely putting the tape in to jam out. They didn't just start singing along because it happened to be on the radio. Similarly for the concerts, it's chosen to be played for a reason. Indeed, to each their own though.
