Inside two years, Johny Hendricks has risen as high as "almost beating GSP", winning the belt in his next fight and defending it to the edge of being cut. Face it people, Big Rigg has a good chance of getting cut if he doesn't win this one: not one exciting fight since GSP, missed weight on multiple occasions and got destroyed in his last fight. Even if he's not cut, his future is not looking great. When you call quit on your weight cut half a pound close to the limit (multiple times, again), you either don't have functioning livers anymore or you just don't have the mental strength.

Especially when you're on the spot: we all know Johny's weight problems. Hell, he got deported to middle weight already but Dana gave him one last chance: "OK Johny, I won't force you up but don't miss weight again, please!" What happens? After rebuilding his nutrition team (guy is so far gone, he needs a team), he (once again) swore to make weight, said to whoever would listen that this would be his easiest cut and even bragged on his weight during fight week.

Also, Johny is far too small to fight MW. No way he could hang with monsters like Rockhold, Romero or even The Chris. They would dwarf him and his power would not translate well against these beasts. Sure he can go to Bellator to fight old geezers and upcoming young lads but I don't see him doing well there, especially at MW where size can keep his skills in check.

My prediction? Johny will retire before 2016 ends.

Kennedy is a manlet. Romero ain't much taller. Don't see why Hendricks can't have success at MW, he should've embraced it the second he lost his belt

Another sign that doesn't lie: when I created this thread, there was no Hendricks thread on the first two pages of Sherdog. Now I know there are a lots of fights coming and very big names involved but Johny's fiasco has fallen on deaf ears.

Talk about falling into obscurity...

Are you dense? Kennedy is in the upper tier of MW size and Romero is definitely one of the biggest too. Tell me then, which MW fighters are bigger? Chael was big but not that bigger than Tim. Silva is tall and lanky but he's not that big: 198lbs out of training camp is far from big for MW, where many fighters walk around above 200.

If Tim Kennedy is a manlet, then half of the MW roster is a manlet!

.25 over, pretty close. But even if he had made the weight he didn't look good in the Thompson fight either. I personally think he's done.

Hendricks needs to embrace his inner Rumbleweight.

Inside 2 years? The GSP fight was almost 3 years ago.

Didn't he own a restaurant at one point?

Can't stand him. How many times has he missed weight?
Three times. Two within the past year, and then he also missed weight before his first fight against Lawler at UFC 171-- he was eventually able to shed the excess weight in time, but he did come in heavy for the initial weigh-in.

He wont get cut, not a chance.

He may get forced up a division though. was notable Novitsky was with him at weigh in's so hes obviously on the weigh-in monitoring list.

That said, he didnt look terrible, and only 1/4lb.. may be that UFC were happy with Healthy Hendricks v going that extra 1/4lb

Aldo went the extra and looked terrible.

It's possible that getting destroyed by Wonderboy also destroyed him mentally. Knowing that he will probably never be champion again and that his opportunity to be a megastar passed him by may have caused him to stop giving a F about his weight cut.

He is essentially a gatekeeper now with limited popularity and a bad reputation. I feel kind of bad for him because he showed so much promise during his string of 1st round KOs.

He looks deflated yet still weighs in heavy? What a mess.

Pigg Rigg has been eating some burgers and fries but that still doesn't explain why he gets so big he can't make weight. The guy has a work ethic problem or something. He waits until the last minute to make a huge water cut and then he can't do it.
