"The Republican Party is DEAD!"

whichever party won this presidency is in a great position. trump is just what the republicans needed, kasich and cruz would have lost.

if the dems pick cory booker, women wont show up, if they pick warren, blacks dont show up. democrats arent winning the next election. they really are kinda fucked for a while. this election split the dems up bad. blacks dont even want whites in the dnc anymore lmao and warren is their best chance.

We've been hearing gleeful liberals proclaim this for years now. Yet Republicans just had the worst candidate in history become President. They also control the Senate and the House. The Republicans also came out ahead in gubernatorial races. They will appoint the next SC Justice. They turned a lot of blue counties red.

"For only the second time since 1929, the Republican Party will control the House, Senate, the White House, most governorships and state houses, and will decide a Supreme Court pick."

So...are you sure you guys didn't mean the Democratic Party was the dead one?
The Republican party is very much alive. Not only did it get the presidential nomination, but it picked up Congressmen, Senators, and Governors.

Trump is one of the best candidates in a long time

The RNC, DNC and every major media organization tag teamed him and failed. When he was on stage during the primary he would have like 3 other candidates and the moderator all focusing on trying to bring him down

Very few people would've won in those circumstances

Hillary should always run against a Republican. God bless her corrupt soul.

After 8 years of a Democrat the odds were in favor of a Republican being elected. All this analysis is a waste of time.

15% odds, according to the esteemed New York Times, on Election Day.

That is true, and an interesting shift. We will see if that continues, or if that is just the loss of Obama himself. I meant in an absolute sense, Trump had less votes than Romney. He had less votes than McCain. I see this as more of a failure of democratts to actually show up to the polls than a swing of popular opinion in favor of the conservatives. There is no evidence of that. There is abundant evidence that liberal ideology is either getting less popular, or they didnt go vote for whatever reason.

Yep no one likes Hillary. Almost every single person was choosing Hillary as the lesser of two evils. That kind of opinion is going to affect voter turnout.

not if they don't change
people are sick of their asshole shit
they have to come way back towards center instead of approaching the leftist land of socialism they are creeping towards

Lol no. That's literally the opposite of what needs to happen. Hillary was supposed to be that moderate candidate. She had to swing to the left just to survive the primaries.

Dems lost because they had an uninspiring, blatantly corrupt candidate. Period. And that still won them the popular vote. I can't imagine they don't have a better candidate in 4 years.

Republicans have won 1 out of the last 7 popular votes, and none of the underlying fundamentals threatening the party have evaporated just because people despised Hillary. Trump doubled down on "white" identity in terms of social politics which means if he can't generate some serious jobs for minorities, then the Republicans will be in a far, far worse position in four years than they were before winning the White House.

Now is not the time to gloat. Now is the time to perform.

Agreed. Asian American professionals could always use a boost in the tech and medical field.

Wish that was enough. Jobs will make inroads into the minority vote. No jobs, and Bannon's grand plan falls apart as surely as Obamacare.

Lol. The republican party is dead. Trump is not a true conservative and he just destroyed all the true conservatives.

He may be a republican president, but in the long run, his win is worse for those who want the gop to remain a far right group.

The scary thing is that Bernie probably could have beaten trump. He had the same energy around him that Obama had in 2008.

We would all be preparing for taxes over 50% and a socialist shithole America where everything is an entitlement and nothing is earned

Its like when your significant other is cheating on you and is always suspicious that you are cheating on them. Republicans win via "I'm rubber, you're glue" strategy.

The same was said after Bush won and had both houses in 2002 about the Democratic Party. Only twice in the history of the U.S. has the incumbent party won a third term in office. The Democratic Party isn't dead and will be in power before you know it.
The Democratic party needs a giant overhaul before you talk about "power" with them again.

Until the night before the election, I hadn't posted more than once or twice in the WR in like 6 months. Post history reflects that.

Second day back and I've already triggered the fuck outta you. Real incentive to stay. Lol.

The video of people at the Clinton victory rally crying when they heard Trump won was one of the happiest moments of my life.

A lot turns on a narrow margin. The Republicans are still very fractured. The difference is that with the entire government under their control, they are not hopelessly fractured. You know as well as I do that had Trump lost, all of the Republicans who were saying the party was in serious trouble would still be saying it. You shouldn't be disingenuous, it reeks on you.

I actually fully agree with this, and we are very apart politically. This was Thermopylae pass for the Republican party. IF we failed here and Trump was defeated, it would have been a down ballot washout like it was for the Dems. BOTH parties need to think about their extremist views and come back towards reality.

Donald Trump besmirched the establishment of both parties.

Say what you will about the guy and everything else he says and does, but I absolutely have to tip my hat to him for single handedly stopping the possibility of either a Bush 3 or Clinton 2 presidency. Mad respect for smashing America's current two biggest political dynasties in those families.
