I'm sure Fedor was so worried about Maldonado that he felt the need to stack the deck against him even more so. How do you know these aren't common judges / refs for Russian MMA? I'm not defending the conflict of interest I just think they weren't concerned with Maldonado and thought he would have crumbled under that first barrage. Had the fight been a competitive fight (on paper) maybe I could see this but I don't think they foresaw Fedor having as much trouble as he did.

Just for your information, Fedor-Bigfoot round 2 was scored 10-9 by all cageside judges (not Russian!) and Fedor had less offense in that. We all saw Fedor backing up Fabio with a barrage of punches at the beginning of the round. That alone would be enough to prevent 10-8.
