What i feel from seeing all the complaining about the 200 cards is that the MMA community(even the hardcores) have indeed a storyline/drama WWE mentality.
I know people have been talking about this for a while, but this 200 debacle really puts things into perspective.

How in the world would people be complaining about card quality when you have dc vs jones, aldo vs edgar, plus meisha tate, cain vs travis, nate vs tba, etc etc ????

The reason is: no story lines, no drama, no wwe bullshit so far.

Of course there is jones x DC in there, but i feel like this has been beaten to death at this point and really there isnt anything these guys can do now that would top the pre-fight odyssey that was the first time they met.

So, although the fights are amazing and competitively they provide everything an mma fan could want, people are still mad about it.

I understand it though and i kinda feel the a bit of it too. Its disappointing. I feel like the fights have so much potential but are not going to reach the level of hype they deserved.

They want some Kardashian level shit up in here. They want Conor tweeting lies and hitting Dana with a Stone Cold Stunner....

They want a fucking soap opera because understanding fighting takes too much energy.

And they've all learned the importance of being efficiently efficient with their energy--they learned it the hard way.

I think very few hardcores are dissapointed with UFC 200. It's undeniably a great card for fight fans. The people complaining are filthy casuals/Conor fans.

DC is fuckin 37 years old. He's not going to outgrind Jones - nothing more to see there, and a women's fight main carding? Tate - Nunes will be boring as all hell. And Sage fuckin Northcutt? Doesn't seem too intriguing, and this is why people, or at least me, are complaining.

Main card should've been Lawler vs Wonderboy (Rory's gone anyways - cancel that fight)
RDA vs Ferguson
Edgar vs Aldo

Hell, I would've rather saw Wonderboy vs Rory than Tate - Nunes, or DC - Jones.

I think it's as simple as the hate for the UFC is stronger than the love for the sport in alot of cases.

Exciting to see Aldo back in action. Just dislike that the title holder isn't defending his belt and they have Aldo matched up against Edgar. Edgar or Aldo should be fighting for the title, not for runner up. RDA should be on UFC 200, not at some King of The Cage event because he got injured for the Conor fight. Gegard on the card is awesome. Cain on the card is awesome. Hope to see Nate fight to try moving up in the LW rankings. Sucks to see Sage on the card. Gomi is a great addition, but against Miller is odd. I think the card is missing Hunto.

I almost forgot, can't complain about seeing my boy, DC, on the card.

What? People are complaining? I just read that DC x Jon Jones would be the main event at UFC 200 and opened the forum expecting to see celebrations! Everyone was bitching (and rightly so) about Nate x McGregor 2. This is light-years better.

200 is a great card i just would prefer to watch 198 if i had to choose between the two , and 200 was meant to be historic.

Neither of those fights are very exciting. What the hell is a 37 year old, ring rusty DC going to do to pillow fists Jones? They are going to lay on each other up against the cage just like last time.

I think jones last performance left a lot of room for doubt. I can totally see DC winning if that jon jones shows up again. I have no idea how you can say "there is nothing to see there". Even without the birth of rusty jones i would have loved to see that fight again.

Edgar vs aldo, as you mention, IS IN THE CARD!! so im not sure how thats an arguing point....

But yeah, i would have prefered RDA vs Ferg over the meisha fight for sure....

Don't get me wrong - I'll watch.

Edgar Aldo is the only fight that I'm legit excited about.

What does DC's age have anything to do with it? He's 37 and the LHW champ. He's not by any means in a decline. And I thoroughly enjoyed their last fight. These are two of the greatest fighters currently active, they could easily destroy 90% of the UFC roster, and just because their fight did not finish with a ko or sub does not diminish their greatness.

All you have to do is look at the UFC 100 card to see what kind of card people were expecting and why many are let down. This is UFC 100, it sold 1,600,000

  • Brock Lesnar: $400,000 (no win bonus) def. Frank Mir: $45,000
  • Georges St-Pierre: $400,000 ($200,000 win bonus) def. Thiago Alves: $60,000
  • Jon Fitch: $90,000 (includes $45,000 win bonus) def. Paulo Thiago: $8,000
  • Dan Henderson: $250,000 ($150,000 win bonus) def. Michael Bisping: $150,000
  • Yoshihiro Akiyama: $60,000 ($20,000 win bonus) def. Alan Belcher: $19,000
  • Mark Coleman: $100,000 ($50,000 win bonus) def. Stephan Bonnar: $25,000
  • Jim Miller: $22,000 ($11,000 win bonus) def. Mac Danzig: $20,000
  • Jon Jones: $18,000 ($9,000 win bonus) def. Jake O'Brien: $13,000
  • Dong Hyun Kim: $58,000 ($29,000 win bonus) def. T.J. Grant: $5,000
  • Tom Lawlor: $16,000 ($8,000 win bonus) def. C.B. Dollaway: $14,000
  • Shannon Gugerty: $10,000 ($5,000 win bonus) def. Matt Grice: $7,000

Fair enough. I guess I was just hoping for RDA vs Ferguson.

People are complaining but they're still going to watch and follow every piece of media associated with the event, before and after it.

Most are just fans of Conor who don't know anything about mma

Oh don't get me wrong I would've prefered anything with RDA or Lawler. But I'm happy we're not getting that stupid McGregor x Diaz fight as the main event.

I'd like one more big fight. It's not about storylines, It's about interesting new matchups not 2 rematches that weren't all that entertaining the first time, especially jones/dc 2

So, just to recap:
- people don't like 200 because it has no storyline
- DC vs Jones has story
- DC vs Jones doesn't count

Got it.

This. Mind you I'll be watching as I always do but the last time they fought and a bunch of my casual fan friends showed up, they were not impressed.
The fight has huge implications but in reality I doubt it'll be an entertaining fight. Some of the hardcore deep down know this and whatever heat drummed up by the 1st fight is almost extinguished
