Money. Dana can't sell him as the next challenger @ LW coming off a loss to a guy was one sided by the champion. You couldn't spin this loss into a title shot not even using the WW excuse. But still having the FW belt was a huge insurance policy because he'll draw more as a champion right now. If he should beat Edgar, I can see him moving up to LW on a permanent basis but still don't think he'd be more than mid tier

He'll draw more for his next fight only because people will want to see if he can retain his title. I doubt he will fight Edgar because his ground game is still weak. My money is on the Aldo rematch, because it will be easier.

real reason is he just got bitch slapped at LW.

Edgar isn't going to be able to take the punches. I think he's gonna get clipped going in. Conor will fight smarter this time. He adandoned all body kicks against Diaz.

conor is scared to fight people who are the same size.

he said in the post conference that he wants to go from 168 pounds to 145 pounds. That's cutting 23 pounds just to beat on smaller and shorter fighters.

He'll demolish Frankie.

He is far too tall for that division, hence why he's went crawling back to it.

LOL at the idea of Frankie getting finished by anyone at 145 pounds. Not going to happen. We will see if Conor can stop the takedown and maintain pressure for a full 25 minutes to get the win. I personally don't think he can, I think Edgar wins the fight by decision.

Frankie is a tough fight for him, very durable and resilient. If he does beat Edgar I say let him do one more title defense then he can fight for the LW belt.

Cloner will get mercd by Frankie

Edgar wrecks Conor. That 5 minute gas tank of Conors won't hold up against Frankie. Not to mention Edgars a former champ in an actual grown-up division. We've seen what happens when Conor fights grown-ups.

he must duck edgar at all costs if he cares about winning

because Conor is the only fighter in the UFC that cuts weight...

Yes he's looked like death at the weigh-ins but so have a number of fighters.

The fact he's taking flack for it is laughable because not many try to fight in different divisions or even agree to let fighters have 15 pounds extra.

He's trying to get fighters to fight in different divisions and not cut as much...instead you dummies criticise him.

Wait, Conor is fighting Edgar next?

thats gonna be a GREAT fight if next. leaning towards frankie because of his wrestling and heavy hands but am sure it will be a close contest. conor will definitely touch frankie up a bit and wouldnt surprise me if he beats edgar, but if im laying down cash, edgar.

He should have to fight Frankie and Aldo again before thinking about going to 155. Frankie first because i want him to get that title :D

Is he really fighting Frankie?

In post fight press conference it seemed like he was pushing Aldo to the front of line.

Edgar would be a great fight. Same with aldo rematch. Although I would do Edgar at 200.

You need to analyze the striking a little deeper. The Edgar of the last 7 fights or so does not rush in, AT ALL.

What made Conor KO Aldo is Aldo rushing in chin first and hands down, Edgar fights the opposite. He sacrifices power by never being out of position or fully committing to strikes.

Also, good luck throwing more kicks at a guy who catches them for takedowns as well as Frankie,

Aldo is in no way an easier fight than Edgar. Not under any delusional rationalization.
