The real reason Jones appears to be slowing down

Get this. TS says:

Jones only looked amazing when he was younger because he was fighting battleworn veterans.

But now that Jones is a battleworn veteran fighting guys with less mileage and looking less amazing, all of a sudden, those two things don't matter.

Anyone else catch that double standard?

this says a lot About MMAs Talent pool or Combat Sports in General.

Yup. It says small talent pool, and only starting to train in late teens or early 20's. Look at Olympic wrestling and judo, its rare for gold medalists to be in their 30's (it happens, but even Karelin was too old in his mid-30's). But wrestlers and judoka tend to start as kids, unlike MMA.

His only win against another elite young gun before the title was Bader, and it's safe to say at this point that Bader wouldn't really hit his stride for many years, and honestly may still not UFC caliber.

Bader was ranked in the top five and on a two-fight winning streak when he left, and has lost only to Rumble and Glover in the last 7 years.

Well Jon looked better when’s he was younger because he was faster and fearless now he is older and more hesitant. So yes he is a watered down version of his former self but he still has the tools to perform the way he did and dominate everyone he just needs to apply them correctly.

As far as the Bader thing all Jon’s opponents were relatively none were past 35 years of age, Jon was just extremely young when he became a champion which is impressive since he had only been training for 3 years

Jones isn't a "battleworn veteran" by any stretch. You seriously comparing multiple knee surgery Shogun to current Jon Jones?

Unfortunately (its the only major sport in which this seems to happen) most MMA injuries and wear and tear comes in training rather than in actual competition. This doesn't say good things about how MMA fighters train, but is true non-the-less.

10 years of high level MMA training would mean a lot of injuries and wear and train, even if every fight only lasted five seconds. Can you imagine an NFL or NBA team putting up with that kind of coaching, where stars were being hurt regularly in training?

I see him burn out younger then most due to starting early, like shogun. Karma is a bitch
