New Netflix series with Anya Taylor Joy as an orphan chess prodigy. I'm two episodes in and I like it a lot. It seems like it's going to be a good series. Judging by the first two episodes, it's already one of their best shows.

    Anyone else check it out?

Looks interesting. Anya Taylor-Joy looks like a hot alien.

Isn't she playing a young Furiosa in the Fury Road prequel?

Flicked past this yesterday. Girlfriend wanted to give it a shot. Seems a bit 2020 and full of feminism which might put me off but might give it a go.

Thought it was a movie so I passed on it. Figured it would just be a standard predictable netflix movie and had no interest. Their shows tend to be better though so I'll check it out.

I really like her, but I do wonder if that's just because I sometimes confuse her name with Aaron Taylor-Johnson's. Classic Bill Pullman/Paxton scenario.

Yes, but as ever with George Miller: let's wait and see.

Great series. Had no expectations going in but it turned out to be one of the best limited series I've seen. 7 episodes in all IIRC

I've only watched the first 2 episodes but I'm loving it so far.
For a show without a whole lot of physical action, there is tonnes of tension to keep the viewer glued to the screen.

    Just finished this series.

    Give it a A-

What prevented me from giving it an A+ was I wish they'd had incorporated the actual chess matches visually. Seeing some of the moves and then maybe pause and let the player visualize the next move at a critical point and show what works and doesn't work. Otherwise it was a great series.

Anya Taylor-Joy was brilliant. Gonna have to follow her work more often now...

I loved this show. It was like an underdog sports movie but with chess. A lot of emotion

Probably gonna watch it because I'm into chess, but I hope the show has consultants so there isn't goofy writing like

"egads, she beat Magnus Carlsen in 4 moves!!!"
