I do notice because fighters bash each other so much now, when posters mimic them mods let them get away with it. 10 years ago if you said a fighter was an asshole or ducking someone you'd get carded. People get away with a lot more.

I always give people benefit of doubt. this thought cross my mind, but I would never say it in person. For her own sake I hope she has great support. Ronda got so hyped by the ufc that she believed in her own hype. Deep down they dont give fvck about her and they will just jump to the next fighter and hype them up as unbeatable. Fighters need to understand everyone is beatable and never believe in their own hype. If she overcomes this, that beating can be the best thing that happened to her as it opened her eyes on how the world really works.

Three reasons:
1. The sport is more popular, so there are more people. With something that is more mainstream, the people who follow it tend to care less. It's not a "cult following" anymore. Similar to how mega popular musicians get shit on way more in every day conversation than small time bands no one has heard of.
2. The OT is gone, so the creatures from the dark underbelly of Sherdog have crawled out.
3. Trashing people unnecessarily has become the norm all over the internet (see any famous person's Twitter comments for evidence).

As you can see from my join date, I have been here awhile. Over that time period, the quality of poster in this forum has tanked, big time. Things that would have been deleted as unnecessary fighter bashing in times past are now left to fester. One only needs to look at the reaction threads to Ronda's suicide interview.

I'm sorry, I noticed the exact same thing. I used to lurk here and was a Sherdog fight finder junky before joining. I take full blame for being the straw that broke the proverbial camels toe(?).

I can't lie and say that single handily devolving this site in January 2007 has caused me to want to take my life however. Live with it.

i've been through all of those eras - and nothing has ever come close to the conor crap.

IDK man,we had some really nasty stuff rolling around here when Lesnar and Sonnen were at the top,the conor crap stuff is annoying a hell but is not that different from the silliness some people posted here in those days.

well the ufc realized with brock that even if it turns out somewhere down the line that she isnt the greatest thing since sliced bread they would have allready made their millions.Its understandable that people react negativley to this,but i do think its gone a bit overboard. People are right away ready to disbelieve and shit on something without thinking about it now,before its even done being said.

The better way to interpret your response is, let's forget human empathy if the sport they're involved in has the potential to cause brain injuries. If we hate human suffering, we should hate the sport.

Why not slippery slope and apply this to the military? Should I not care about the emotional trauma a veteran suffers if I was OK with them being involved in the war? Not equating the two, just equating the logic.

If the war was completely fought for your amusement or profit, you don't get to pretend you really care about the veterans and their well being. Not without getting called on it, at least.

If you, on the other hand, feel that getting your legs blown off comes with the territory, I think you should be OK with hurt feelings as part of the job too.

And what about empathy towards the women Ronda has bullied and hurt, without any of Holly's grace afterwards? Why not acknowledge that Ronda has been a pretty terrible role model for girls with her attitude and values?

this is a good point. Just try to find any youtube video of ANY animal doing ANYTHING without someone in the comments talking about abuse,and how they are a terrible person,sure some of them are trolls,but others are seriously mentally screwed up.
