I don't care either way. The fights are what's important and all that matter. To me at least. I couldn't give a two shits about the pre fight trash talk/hype. I'm just here to watch people beat the shit out of each other.
I'm a sucker for it if it's done right. I'm a pro wrestling fan, so, that has something to do with it. lol
Ooooh Pro wrestling is a lot different from wrestling though... I kinda like it when they are good at it.
Its essential to mma imho but i'd like to have it used in an individualized manner. Not everyone is gonna be good on the mic, have a certain look, charisma, etc. To an extent it's good to hype fights, especially if there is bad blood yet it's a fine line between selling a fight and blowing smoke. Only to hug it out after and say you were just trying to put asses in seats.MMA definitely needs a few fighters who draw interest from the casual fans by talking smack/hyping fights. Most of the time the person's highlight reel should do the talking for them.Cant turn into the WWE where every swinging dick heading down to the ring comes equipped with a microphone
I did..misread it for sure, went back and edit the post already. Figured i'd be better at this shit after 14 years on sherdog lol.
As in how chael speaks? Makes the sport look bad. Some people can pull off talking with bravado but Chael sounds like a wwe saturday morning cartoon.
Boxers have been doing this for many many years. It's just that when MMA fighters do it, it only gets compared to pro wrestling
Indifferent. What I don't like though is when some fans pick up that schtick and drive it into the ground here on Sherdog.
I like it when it fits the individual but if everyone starts doing it because it worked for Chael the UFC's image will suffer. I can't imagine Matt Brown or Ricardo Lamas giving a promo it just wouldn't work and it would be so awkward. Also, I wouldn't say it's a professional wrestling thing I think it's been around for as long as combat sports. Look at the Gladiators of anient civilizations, playing to the crowd was essential if you were to live.
