Been trying to work on my wrestling guys (straight bjj guy for 4 or so years) and I have a few questions on the outside single.

Whats the best way to set it up in mma?

Are there any notable mma fighters who used the outside single in their fights often?

Thanks :D

I like an outside single setup off a jab, cross, hook, dip for low outside single.

Double jab, Inside leg kick, right cross to outside single. There are 1000's of ways to set it up, these are just a couple ive found some success with.

Usually in straight wrestling/bjj I set it up of an inside control stepping in a circle to get the leg forward. In mma I think a good set up for wrestling take downs is off of a thai clinch. If you throw knees to the body or head depending upon the rules you can circle to bring the leg forward and than drop and swing around to finish.

well I guess my main problem is have no idea how to get them to step forward with their back leg in mma you know? I'll watch some more Sakuraba fights, any ones in particular where he hits the single a lot?

Shoot a double then transition to your single.

Hit it off a clinch.

Shoot it off any punching/kicking combination you're comfortable with.

Watch Palhares, he hits singles then transitions to leglocks.

A successful outside single starts with avoiding typing smiley faces online.

Take this with a grain of salt, but from what I've seen... people tend to circle away from your power hand (so your cross). When they circle that way, one of their legs is coming towards you. If you time it so that you shoot when they step, you can take that outside single pretty well.
