I remember this old commercial from when I was 9 or 10 that had that had the old man sharing his Werther's candy with his Grandson, just like how his Grandfather used to do with him. Well this would be impossible, because this commercial was filmed in 1990 and the Werther's company didn't hit the market until 1969.
As a kid I found it odd, because my Grandmother always had candy dishes with things like, Orange gummy slices, salt water taffy, and peppermints, but no Werther's. I asked her about them and she said she didn't remember them.
This thread is tongue and cheek of course, but I had one of these candy's today and with the power of the internet I googled how old the Werther's company is. I sensed bullshit in that commercial when I was a kid, and after all of these years it turns out that I was correct
