Because modern fighters are bigger/better than their predecessors thouht it'd be cool to make a list of the guys who are the reincarnation (stylistically) of a former fighter.

    Cain ------------------------ fedor
    Jones --------------------- Anderson
    Johnson------------------- rampage
    DC ------------------------ rashad
    Gus------------------------ machida
    Davis---------------------- Tito
    Weidman------------------- chuck

Can't think of a gsp, I would say rockhold but he doesn't have the belt.

Probably been watching longer than you.... But really Cain doesn't remind you of fedor?

On first looks cain does seem similar to fedor. But sylistically they are quite different. Fedors clinch game and submissions for instance was amazing

    Cain------------------doesn't have Fedor's submission skills
Jones----------------------doesn't have Anderson's head movement/boxing skills. I agree he has some great unorthodox striking, but it's no where on the same level as Anderson.
Johnson-------------------more divers attack than Rampage, thought I think this is one of the more close comparisons.
DC--------------------way better wrestling than Rashad, boxing probably equal
Gus--------------------Relies more on boxing, no where near as accurate as Machida
Davis------------------Probably a better grappler than Tito, and has beaten higher quality opponents
Weidman--------------------Way better submission skills than chuck, way better offensive wrestling, more well rounded imo

Cain - no. Has a poor ground game compared to prime Fedor. Different style.
Jones is a stylistical reincarnation of Anderson - lolwut?
    Rumble = Rampage. OK.
    DC - Rashad. Maybe.
Gus - Machida. Different technique-wise, but both are strikers with good footwork. OK.
    Davis - Tito. Fiine.
Weidman - Chuck. No. Chris doesn't take one to land one, and his striking is based off a threat of a takedown, not merely superior TDD.
GSP-Rockhold. No. Luke doesn't have the best wresting in modern MMA. And he takes more chances being much more aggressive than GSP.

I don't get this....most of those guys are still relevant today. And a few are from the same era of mma

I dont want to just rip into this. Let me ask what do you mean by these comparisons?
Cain is the Derrick Rose of MMA. Futhermore, he has had 2 opponents in 5 fights. I know Fedor and Nog fought 3 times, but the set up was entire different than the UFC's match making.

JBJ does not fight anything like Anderson. They are just dominate in their divisions.
Gus doesn't fight like Machida. Really, Conor has more of a forward moving Machida style than Gus.

Evans-DC is an OK comparison. Rumble/Rampage is too but to a lesser extent.

I feel that Tito and Chuck are really 2-3 generations behind. Rampage was the new Chuck to UFC fans that did not watch Pride.

It's fallacious to assert that every new generation is necessarily better than the previous.
