That's 21 followed by 12 zeros. Here's a better estimate, according to the national debt clock (yes, we have one).

21,176,446,000,000

(rounded to nearest million at time of posting, because, hey, what's a few hundred thou when we owe 21 TRILLION)

I've read about it and know that some is the gubment owing itself. Like borrowing from the social security fund. We also owe a bunch to our own citizens, like treasury bonds. China and Japan own about 10% each of the PUBLIC debt (why the number is lower, also it's from 2016). U.S. institutions owned 55% in 2016.

Since this is Mayberry, let's at least TRY to stay away from political attacks and BS/rhetoric. Eventually there will be a day of reckoning. I remember hearing about this as a kid in the late 80's on like 20/20 and being scared shitless. Doesn't this scare you?

I'm old, soon I'll be dead. And I'll chuckle about all the things I won't have to care about as life slips away.

I'm not really worried about imaginary debt.

We printed half that since 2008.

It isn't real. It's not backed by anything but your confidence.

That is what FIAT money is.

Financial system about to reset.

I'm good. Got enough in my bank to have a good time and impress some females when I'm in the mood so let me live bro.

Doesn’t scare me anywhere as bad as my hemorrhoids. Feels like a fleet of fire ants is bbqing my asshole.

Diffusion of responsibility since its shared by so many people.

Nah, I have enough of my own problems, much less worrying about the national debt. By the time shit really hits the fan I'll probably be dead.

It's bad enough going to the WR for econ talk...but Mayberry? This should be good. I wonder what Rogan has to say about it.

Precious metals. Gold and Silver will still retain its value in the event of economic collapse.

Paper/digital money ... nah

So far, it's worked for the Lannisters. What could go wrong?

I've been training for the apocalypse my entire life. I'm ready
Come at me, bros

No. Our economy is the standard of the the world. And as long as our GDP outpaces our interest and spending increases it’s a non issue.

I’d like to see the number go backwards for once though.

doesnt matter how much is it, it coul be 400 quadrillion and nobody would give a fuck because the US has a competitive advantage that nobody can surpass, they print the world currency, the US dollar and its interest rates and most of the planet has their debt in dollars, as long as that is in place nothing will happen

Maybe the US needs to get a 2nd job on the weekends until it can pay this off.

I hear China is hiring
