Sherdoggers please pay attention,
In HW, there is no such thing as a iron chin, a fighter who was known for having great chin resistance in LHW might not have the same advantage in HW and here is a few examples of that:

- Stipe Miocic who fought today was Ko'ed by Stephan Struve

- Mark Hunt, who was AND STILL IS known for having an iron chin was Ko'ed by Melvin Manhoef and JDS

- Velasquez was KO'ed by JDS

- An exhausted JDS was Ko'ed by Velasquez

- Werdum was KO'ed by JDS

- Hendo was KO'ed by Belfort

and now Maldonado was KO'ed by Miocic, no shame in that, Miocic is a heavy handed HW and Maldonado is known for having poor defense and counting too much on his chin.

Iron will break when enough force is applied...

Your topic and then some of your examples don't correlate.

who said he had iron chin

amazing chin, but manhoef hits really fucking hard, and jds i dont think it was a clean ko

- Velasquez was KO'ed by JDS

who said he had iron chin?

- An exhausted JDS was Ko'ed by Velasquez

was it really a clean ko though

- Werdum was KO'ed by JDS

again, who said he had iron chin

- Hendo was KO'ed by Belfort

his chin is horrible today, and belfort is a fucking monster

There will always be an excuse or a way to explain away why a guy who was considered iron chinned only yesterday is no longer iron chinned.

People here can't even agree on where the "chin" is, so the chin strength topic is stupid

I was going to ask you why, but then...

- Belfort and Hendo were HW before, both are practically HW's before the weight cut and both have KO power in ther hands.

-Hendo was known for having an iron chin, but he actually have a very good recovery (like Nick Diaz), he was wobbled multiple time during his career but he always recovered before being KO'ed, Belfort exposed this by finishing him with strikes KO while he was trying to recover.

- Manhoef is in the same situation as Hendo and Belfort, it doesn't matter what weightclass he is, he will always have that HW KO power, that's why he KO'ed Mark Hunt so easily in that K1 fight.

Werdum ate some heavy shots from Travis Browne and he was still able to recover.
If it was Overeem instead of Werdum it would be a KO/TKO win for Browne for sure.

You're a stinky turd, Hunt went out cold and couldn't even stand on his own after JDS knocked him cold.

iron chined or not, anyone can get KOed by a probably placed and timed punch

Yeah, gotta watch out for those PROBABLY placed punches. Will get ya every time.

Roy Nelson ate bombs from JDS and Stipe (two of the hardest hitters on the planet) and ate knee after knee from Werdum. Iron chins are for real, bro.

The iron chin is a myth in that every human to ever walk the Earth CAN be knocked out. But, it's just a euphemism. I don't think that anyone actually believes that any fighter is immune from being KO'd. Some fighter can certainly take a punch better than others and those who can take a punch exceptionally well are said to have an iron chin. You're taking the term too literally.

I disagree, IMO, if Miocic was a LHW, Maldonado would've eaten that punch and kept fighting, just watch his fights against LHW's like Glover (who is heavy handed btw) and other LHW's.
HW's clearly have a advantage in their punches, it doesn't matter if they're a bar brawler or a technical striker, if that hailmaker lands, you're done. Meanwhile in the lighter classes, a so called "iron chinned" fighter would eventually recover and keep fighting.

Hendo isn't anywhere near the size of a legit heavyweight. He barely breaks 200. There are welterweights bigger than he is.

Guys everyone knows Iron Palm style trumps Iron Head style.

A lot of fighters are never the same after taking a beating like Maldonado did vs. Glover. It'll be interesting to see how JDS bounces back from a second beating from Cain. He seemingly came back from the first one no worse for wear. Can he do it again?
