I suspect TS and others in this thread are victims of what I use to call the outrage method. It is as old as politics itself and is used by the media and politicians alike to push an agenda. It uses the people's lack of knowledge and ignores presenting a context and important nuances.

In this case TS starts out by lying about the film was banned which it wasn't. Secondly he treats Finland, Sweden and Norway as being unique in having motion picture censor. The great country of United States both invented motion picture and as far as I know motion picture censorship. wiki says Maine banned a heavyweight fight in 1897. Is that the reason people from Maine are all beta cucks today? Is it because of the strong american censorship in the 40s that you americans became weaklings and later lost the Vietnam war, let in 10s millions of taco eaters, allowed Black Lives Matter bullshit going on, having campuses pulling the american flag and have affirmative action that take jobs from white people? Obviously this is bullshit, and so is taking some age limit enforcement in the 80s and connecting it to Immigration policy/gender shit today. The age limit "censorship" isn't connected to the progressive leftist stuff of today, it is due to a weird mixture of fucked up unscientific psychology trends(from american academia by the way) and christian moral outcry.

TS also misses out on that the censorship doesn't exist here today or law enforced age limits while it does in lots of more socially conservative countries. The connection is just not there, besides pushing the agenda that children should rebel/don't listen to their parents does fit a progressive agenda so the censorship would not make sense anyway.

I'm swedish and conservative and I got to admit this type of ignorance do rustle me while I should be more stoic about it. I see alot of really weird news popping up in american right wing news. Alot of it is twisted, sometimes really twisted, flat out lies or drawn out if its context. And I see why. Leftist american news outlets pushed Scandinavia as some liberal paradise(which we are not, but still superior to most countries but due to other factors), the right wing sites answered with exaggerated click bait to discredit what the left was pushing. There are a few maybe in the biggest couple of cities only catering to the kids of some Portlandia type people. The vast majority of people hate it. One time in the UK back in the 90s, my dad took my brother and I to an American action movie that was rated PG-13 (this is a guidance rather than an actual restriction, unlike rated R) in the US but 15 in the UK. He was actually just dropping us off so he could keep us occupied while he did something else. The usher at the theater questioned how old we were so my dad lied and we got in. Is normal. In general, European film raters or censors are looking out for violence and weird shit that doesn't make much sense to Americans, but are more tolerant of nudity and sexuality. In France, you'll have highly sexual movies without violence that are rated 12, but PG-13 American action movies that are like 15 or even 18 because of violence. And then in the US, shit that would be rated 12 in France have to be censored in order to get an R.

We had some idiotic movie laws back in the day, but this example is just retarded. Do you consider a movie "banned" when it is PG-13?

I remember when Robocop came to Finland and the version they showed here was like 7 minutes shorter than the original version, because all the good (bad) parts were censored. I was livid.

PG-13 isn't a government thing. There are no laws against children watching anything except for porn.

However, private companies only started the movie rating system (G,PG,PG-13,R) in America as a way to prevent the government from starting a censorship board back in the 1920s.
