The Most Impressive Animal You've Seen in Real-Life (not in a zoo)

I've seen a river of like 10 grizzlies catching spawning salmon. That was pretty cool. Moose are very impressive animals, as are mountain goats running across pretty sheer cliff faces. Seeing and swimming with a humpback whale with her calf was awesome. Manta Rays are impressive too.

Got trapped in a car surrounded by bull buffalo that began to fight each other right next to us. Like, 10ft from us. For fuck sake, why in god's name would anyone ever get out of their car and approach the buffalo? Those damn things were the definition of intimidating.
I've seen moose, Elk, various bears, a cougar once, wolves... I even got to see a badger chase around a very stupid coyote.
But the bison.... those things don't play around.

Also, I got to hold a lemur once and it was just as awesome as you think.

^^ Oh fuck, yeah, I've seen a ton of bison and buffalo. They are impressive for sure.

It just baffles me why anyone would try to get near them. Those big males were charging and tussling at/with each other so forcefully we could actually feel it shaking the car.

Yeah, those fuckers are dangerous animals.

My dad was driving around Africa a while back, and he had one of those old, large LandRovers. He said a Rhino once used it as a scratching post, and the whole truck was shaking like a leaf in the wind while the Rhino was barely even doing anything. Said it was pretty scary being in there

I saw a mountain lion last summer while camping. It was actually pretty creepy. Everyone was in bed except me. My dog started growling. I took a flashlight and saw some glowing eyes. I began to walk toward it when it took off. That's when I saw that it was a mountain lion. It wasnt a huge one.

California Chrome, perhaps. He was probably the most accomplished animal I've seen in real life.

I once saw this weird looking dog like animal walking in broad daylight. Maybe it was a dog, but I saw it and did not think so at the time. Some guy was sitting on his roof and saw it too and we just looked at each other like "Did that just happen?" it's hard to describe though. If nothing else, it was possibly the most unusual looking dog I've ever seen.
Speaking of which, my dog used to impress me. She knew us by name and would wait patiently by the door if she was told one of us was coming home. She was really smart - much more so than any other dog I'd known.

I haven't really seen many exotic/rare animals outside of the zoo. I saw a pretty good looking cougar once. She was in a bar.

Actually, I saw a dolphin while wakeboarding once or twice. My instructors said that they had dolphins following the boat and jumping the wake.

Once my wife and I were walking my dog late one cold night in Alberta, Canada. I looked behind me and noticed a huge Coyote following us. I believe he was likely hungry and stalking my dog. I have never seen a coyote that large before or since. He was large and a little intimidating.

Maybe he was trying to use mind control on your dog to convince him/her to turn on you and join him in eating you guys. Or maybe he was wondering if you needed help being escorted across a national border for a reasonable fee(?)

Either surfing with dolphins or a herd of 300-500 kilo cows.

I swam with a bunch of whale sharks in the Philippines.

Was fucking sick. There were about 12 of them in total, but they weren't adults - the bigger ones were maybe 25-30ft or something, perhaps a bit bigger. The majority of them were around 20ft i'd guess, but it was still an incredible experience. I said to my mate, 'dude we'll be lucky to see one but that would be enough'. We saw the back of one breach the surface, our 'time' started then, I dived into the ocean and was literally blowing bubbles saying 'fucking HELL' as I panned around underwater and was literally surrounded by them. Awesome.

Probably between a moose, a buffalo, a bear, a cougar, and a bald eagle.

I fell out of a boat once with an alligator in the river. I also got a good look at a shark while snorkeling.

Nightmare stuff right there.

I've seen an alligator too.

Saw a black bear on a hunting trip.

I saw a lady, stopped an talked to her, walking to Presa dogs before. Those dogs looked the total part of destroyers!!

Dolphins in the bow wake.

American alligator.
