What fight were you watching when something happened in that fight that made you the most concerned or the most worried you've ever been about a fighter being seriously injured or possibly dead?
For me there are two things that looked about equally serious so I'll start with the one that had me the most concerned since it involved one of my favorite fighters.
1. The fight in which Gonzaga "Cro-Cop'd" Cro Cop was the most concerned about what I'd just seen happen to a fighter. Gonzaga had just brutally knocked out Cro-Cop with a move that you would have expected to see coming from Cro-Cop instead of Gonzaga. But Gonzaga was a big, strong 260 pound guy that just kicked Cro Cop in the head just as hard as he possibly could! Seeing Cro-Cop lying on the mat, especially the way he was lying there was scary.
2. I wasn't a fan of Steve Nelmark and I don't even remember if I had seen him fight before. I had probably seen him fight once or twice because it was The Ultimate Ultimate 96 and back then I bought every single NHB PPV that I could get! In the second fight that Tank Abbott had that night (and Tank was who I was hoping would win the tournament) Tank faced Steve Nelmark and the first and only time I have ever seen it happen, Tank almost threw Nelmark over the top of the Octagon to the concrete floor below! That was exciting and fun but it wasn't what made that fight appear on this very short list. It was what happened afterwards. Only about one minute into the fight Tank hit Nelmark with a compact right hook to Nelmark's jaw that made Nelmark's neck twist severely as Nelmark dropped like a ton of bricks. As Nelmark lay there, his neck was turned to such an extreme angle that I thought there was a chance I had just seen a man killed! Fortunately it was just a knockout and Nelmark didn't suffer any permanent injury as far as I know.
