Are they also stealing designer purses for their ill mothers?
Stop trolling!!!!!!!!!
I don't give a shit about some $400 purse that cost $6 to make in some SE Asian sweatshop.

it seems those are the only ones being recorded. which of course a white supremacy would do....
I'll take the "over" on "what a white supremacy" would actually do in these scenarios... this is how we know there's no meaningful white supremacy...

They hit an la Nordstrom’s Wednesday night and attacked a guard with pepper spray. That’s aggravated robbery

Stores beginning to fight back with armed security and working with prosecutors to increase bail. The two idiots shown have two million dollar bonds

Exactly what purpose does a two million dollar bond serve?

The criminal justice system in America is such a racket, commercial bondsman which are the norm in the US are illegal everywhere else in the world. Everywhere except the land of the free.

Does the eighth amendment not exist?

This serves a few purposes. It is mainly to appease the politicians who in turn are trying to appease the ultra high end stores that likely threatened to leave. It ensures jail time because they won’t be able to post until a bond reduction hearing. It sends a signal to others that if caught, they will be locked up for a while until their trial. In my opinion, two million is excessive. That is usually reserved for murderers or Kyle Rittenhouse. If they have long and violent histories, that’s one type of justification. According to the Supreme Court, bail is a promise to return to court and it can be set high in instances where there are long criminal histories, the crimes are especially violent, the suspect poses a risk to the community, or they are a flight risk to leave the country or go into hiding.

With all due respect, none of those purposes is constitutional.

I am opposed to bail in general; it should only apply if there is a flight risk. Dangerous? Stay in jail, no bail for you. Sorry Wausheka killer, no bail for you, wish we'd done it the first time when we let you out on bail for skipping bail. Rittenhouse, for instance, should not have been required to pay bail as he had no history of violence and didn't appear to pose a threat.

Bail was never meant to be a hardship and in fact is constitutionally prohibited from being one.

Depends on the severity of said theft. I guess small beans we can do single digits. Consequences, they work.

Here are the countries that do that: Brunei, Iran, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

You want a membership to that club?

Eighth amendment backed by Supreme Court cases ok what constitutes overly high bail.

this should help:

ENT
The Eighth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, prohibits the government from imposing excessive bail on individuals.

There are also certain types of crimes for which the safety of the public dictates, that no bail can be set or that bail be established at a high enough amount that it will be impossible for the person convicted of the crime to pay for it. These offenses include instances in which there a high flight risk, multiple murders, murders so gruesome that the public conscience is shocked, and serial sexual assaults.

BAIL REFORM ACT OF 1984
In 1984, Congress passed the Bail Reform Act of 1984. This law allows pre-trial detention of individuals if that person is a danger to the community. This includes a narrow group of individuals including those who have committed crimes of violence, repeat felony offenders, and other people who pose a significant danger to the community. In 2006, the Adam Walsh Amendments to the Bail Reform Act of 1984 were passed, which state that any person accused of a crime involving a minor must be confined, placed under curfew, and must frequently report to law enforcement. Many of the regulations and terms of Bail Reform Act of 1984 still influence how bonds are treated in the United States.

CALCULATING BAIL AMOUNTS
Courts rely on a variety of factors when determining how to set a bond amount. These amounts include the defendant’s employment status, the defendant’s family ties and relationships, the defendant’s mental condition, the defendant’s previous criminal record, the extent of punishment, the length of the person’s residence in the community, the likelihood of conviction, the seriousness of the crime involved, and any other factors indicative of the defendant’s quality of life.

THE TYPES OF BONDS
There are several types of bonds that might be involved in a person’s claims. These bonds include the following:

  • Cash bails mean that an individual must give the court an established amount of cash for the bail. The cash will remain in the court’s possession until the defendant appears at all court cases and the case is concluded.
  • Surety bonds involve contractual undertakings by an admitted insurance company that has adequate assets to satisfy the face value of the bond.
  • Property bonds involve the court recording a lien on property to secure the amount of bail that is set by the court.
  • Release on Personal Recognizance. A county or law enforcement administered pre-trial release program requires interviewing defendants in custody and making recommendations about the release of these individuals.
  • Release on Citations involve an arresting officer issuing citations that a person must appear in court at an appointed date.

Why racist? Are you seeing a pattern that the rest of us don’t? Lol

OIC where you going with this……..majority of urban poor are black. Most petty crime is committed by poor.
This means majority of blacks are criminals ?

lol, your frequent dog whistles belie your BS of your "fair and balanced" policing that you claim you indulged in.

Isn’t there some weird system that allows those charged to just put up 10% or some other ridiculously small amount of the actual bond money?

I never treated anyone any different when I was a cop. I was majorly about respect for everyone. The refusal of the media and others to observe the simple fact that these robberies have been exclusively African Americans shows how spineless the media and politicians are. People and agencies are so afraid of being called the R word that they ignore the obvious. Black people always claim to be followed in stores or looked at with suspicion when they enter a store. While that isn’t fair, this is precisely the reason
