Fuck off with that shit... It's not "criticizing the media" when Trump affiliates have full-blown Stalinist campaigns to discredit journalists that they don't like.
The campaign is consistent with Mr. Trump’s long-running effort to delegitimize critical reporting and brand the news media as an “enemy of the people.” The president has relentlessly sought to diminish the credibility of news organizations and cast them as politically motivated opponents.
Journalism, he said in a tweet last week, is “nothing more than an evil propaganda machine for the Democrat Party.”
Then there's trying to revoke Jim Acosta's press pass because he asked questions that weren't deferential enough.
And let's not forget the chubby wannabe dictator himself threatening a journalist with prison time for taking a picture.
Again, some more bullshit whataboutism. The whole right wing "free speech" brigade seems to be more concerned with allowing bigots and white supremacists to avoid being deplatformed or dodge consequences for straight-up hate speech. Again, that is not what free speech is really about. If you really want to waste your time arguing some dumbass 4chan argument that these two things are somehow equivalent, go ahead and waste everybody's time doing just that.
Jim Acosta was constantly grandstanding. He was detracting from actual journalism occurring during press conferences. Guys like him are a big part of why journalists are so widely despised.
Other than that, everything you described here is criticism, which is of course protected by the freedom of the press. The left wants to make sure people are fired for jokes, deplatformed for "hate speech", which often means non-hateful mainstream conservative speech, and to enforce speech codes, like almost every left leaning campus in the US tried to enforce over the past few decades. That effort is now happily falling apart due to great efforts by right leaning civil rights orgs like FIRE.
